The Daily Beast writes an article that actually makes sense - I'm in shock!

The Daily Beast is not something people should read to get information. They are not even attempting to hide their hyper-partisanship and you really don't need to read beyond the headlines to know what the conclusion is going to be in 99% of their articles. It goes like this: Conservatives = BAD, Liberals= GOOD!

And that's basically all of their stories. This is why I was shocked to find out that they may actually employ someone that has a brain that isn't tainted by infusing politics into anything from the US Presidency to mashed potatoes (seriously, they turned an article about mashed potatoes into a political rant.)

In a recent article in their tech section, author Joel Kotkin talks about how it is about time for us to "unfriend Mark Zuckerberg."

I think that this article is preaching to the choir to most of the people that are here reading this now because I think a vast majority of the people here have unfriended Facebook quite some time ago. I know that I have although I do on occasion have to use messenger in order to contact certain friends and family members who don't realize that there are actually tons of other ways to message people.

In the article Kotkin still remains partisan because I don't think you can maintain a job at The Daily Beast otherwise as he goes on to applaud the FB banning of former President Trump, but his tune is something (and I can't believe I am actually saying this about something in the Daily Beast) that people should really take to heart.

It has become more evident to people, now that DJT and anything and everything he supports is a target of censorship over at the FB algorithm center but it has started to become apparent to the masses (hopefully) that Facebook definitely does have an agenda to force their personal opinions on their massive reader-base and to suppress anything that disagrees with that.

Kotkin talks specifically about how the notion that Covid-19 originated in a Wuhan lab was something that Facebook actively suppressed a year and a half ago when Trump was saying that this was the case and they were actively promoting that it actually was an accidental virus stemming from a wet market where people were eating bats. Now that things are starting to float in the other direction and the public is starting to basically demand that there be answers, FB has done a complete about-face on this topic and is no longer marking reports about Covid origins being misinformation with their "independent fact-checkers" that are anything but independent.

My jaw dropped a little bit when I saw this in the article

(FB) also de-platformed the New York Post, America’s oldest newspaper, to keep information about Hunter Biden’s laptop from circulating.

The fact that anyone from The Daily Beast would actually even mention this thing that all the media giants did their best to suppress the public from ever getting their eyes on, is just astounding to me. Congratulations Joel Kotkin! You might be taking your first baby-steps towards being an actual journalist!

However, when I look into Joel's past articles I see that he might actually show signs of being conservative or at least to some degree, not extremely far left like nearly everyone else at his publication. Maybe they keep him around and let him write something every fortnight or so in order to attempt to create an illusion of being bi-partisan - even though anyone who knows anything about The Daily Beast realizes that this is far from the case.

He rounds out this rare, and nicely written almost entirely non-partisan article by stating this

The good news is there is growing opposition to Zuckerberg’s power and that of his fellow oligarchs, even within Silicon Valley.

In my mind this is a very good thing because while the people that are reading this have seen the light perhaps a long time ago when they turned their backs on FB, there is no denying that most of the world still has their faces firmly up Zuck's butt.

It is refreshing to see this sort of article out there, particularly from a publication like The Daily Best which simply tows the party line in almost every single article they publish.

Joel Kotkin, I commend you for writing something that is actually worth reading at your otherwise pathetic publication. I hope you don't get fired for it because it isn't completely one sided.

Sort:

I'm not overly familiar with The Daily Beast but from what little I have seen it appears to be a liberal mouthpiece op-ed factory.

I did peruse the article in question though and the guy is not wrong.

I would recommend that you remain unaware of The Beast. This is a rare moment of objectivity on their part, that is for sure.
