IBT Survival Island - Regular Update

In these regular updates we will bring fresh content to Hive in the form of our game coding experiences; IBT is a developing PC game - the one to have future Crypto interactions.

Yet another big week guys, so I'll try keep this update focused on our key win; We are getting some pretty advanced stuff working now (with much trial and error), but we think its starting to pay off and the game is beginning to form into something new and more detailed, a bit more like what we were hoping for - when making a game the effort is great, but I didn't think it would take this much with access to a great editor. Anyways on with this weeks update.

Anims and more Anims!

As usual we are always adding more and more new animations depending on the situation. For example this animation above wont even work unless you are kneeling down in the water so you can scoop it with a cup or your hand and drink it (we are going for reasonable realism where possible). If your not thirsty you will not drink but if you do need a drink remember the more you drink the more you will need to go to the toilet, haha I have special animations for that.

Experimenting with metal

So far in IBT there is stone and wood building, but let's say your stuck on an island which has a lot of rusting metal laying around. This work is really in its experimental stage still but we're having a long hard at adding this feature. It makes the code a bit more complex but with some new weather patterns being added to IBT it "may not be safe" to make something just from wood or even stone. Lost on a strange island, who knows what or whom might blow your house down.

Well, that's it for this week, another week gone another few steps closer to making this game a reality.

I'mma just go take a quick dump behind this boulder. Hope nobody makes a post about it.

Many upgoats live behind the rock I'm sure

This "island" keeps sounding more and more like the one in Lost which one of J's friends reckoned must actually be a peninsula XD

For IBT we haven't locked 100% locked it in yet, but it could be a peninsula - will think on for a bit :)

Keeping to the mantra get the basics right (work out all the mechanics - get code all in an easy to replicate/modify way) and then the fun really starts (working the story concepts, designs into reality).

Baby steps as you know

As I know, usually I do things the other way round XD (first design, then code, so you know what you're coding, why, and how it should all fit together)

I don't know what way around the child I'm working with is doing things but I have made suggestions and am leaving him to work out his workflow, he's coding and I'm not, currently I don't even know what the storyline is and I'm not convinced he does yet either, but if it's based on the game we're playing well we're currently still playing XD
