Interesting idea. My biggest fear about it is that it would also create a fork in the community. So far any of the changes made have been for the most part accepted by the community as a whole and we move on for better or worse. I also don't believe that a normal blogger would pin their flag to the mast of either chain, preferring instead to go with the path of least resistance. I do like the fact you are think about these things..
Maybe something like this could be built as a second layer project. With its own set of rules and its own token.? like some sort of emulator.

I don't think you can make a valid experiment on first layer with the second layer. Changes to the first layer are just more fundamental to the system.

We already have groups forking off based on disagreements over the consensus rules such as Blurt and WhaleShares. In principle A/B testing should be able to settle such arguments so that there is no need for a continuing split.

It would also be possible to have front ends cross post to all 3 branches so that the average blogger is using all 3 by default
