RE: Witness Earnings Weekly Report - 2021-06-28

I am making suggestions to improve that. Faster block times, more witnesses per round, better scalability and decentralization, among other bigger changes, but starting with the smaller steps.

You can read about my long term vision for Hive to be a great and modern blockchain, and what I think we need to do, and what will be the advantages of this vision for the next 20 years on Hive:

A great journey starts with a small step, so I am making a proposal to start making that vision come true on HF26 by increasing the number of total witnesses per round from 21 to 27, it is a small step, the end goal is 120 total witnesses with 0.5s (half a second) block time, but it is just a move that would signal consensus to the vision of a better, faster, more decentralized, robust and more modern Hive blockchain, which would be followed by more demanding changes:

Faster block times might cause too many missing blocks.

The increase in the witness amount can be done gradually, but making up to just 100, with 5 of those being lower "runner" witnesses so newbies can have a shot.

Increasing the number of witnesses while reducing block times gradually does not seem bad. And algorithm change/impovement might be necessary too though, if other blockchains (like Solana) can, we should aim to improve in that way too.

But like I say, increasing the number of witnesses first is a good way to signal that the community does want to improve in a drastic way.

To be discussed and brain stormed on the pros and cons
