Arriba, en la cima del cerro «El café», hay huellas de un pasado que desconozco. Historias que datan de los años noventa y a principios de este milenio. De aquellos años, tan cercanos, solo quedan algunas estructuras abandonadas por el lugar.
Durante mi última visita tomé varias fotos de dichas estructuras y esta semana las edité y pasé a blanco y negro. Son treinta fotos en total, por lo que dividiré esta publicación en dos partes. Espero sean de su agrado.
Up at the top of El Café hill, there are traces of a past I do not know. Stories that date back to the nineties and the beginning of this millennium. From those years, so close, there are only a few abandoned structures left around the place.
During my last visit I took several photos of those structures and this week I edited and converted them to black and white. There are thirty photos in total, so I will divide this publication in two parts. I hope you like them.
Me gusta esta estructura por los recuerdos que hay escritos en el interior del techo: nombres de parejas o grupos de amigos, tallados con rotulador o algún objeto punzante, y una fecha al final de cada grabado. Gracias a estos recuerdos que las personas han ido dejando a través de los años, sé que este parque ha estado así desde los noventa, como un proyecto inacabado.
I like this structure because of the memories written on the inside of the roof: names of couples or groups of friends, carved with a marker or a sharp object, and a date at the end of each engraving. Thanks to these memories that people have left over the years, I know that this park has been like this since the nineties, as an unfinished project.
¿Por qué abandonaron este lugar? ¿Era un proyecto demasiado ambicioso? ¿Por qué nadie habla sobre él? Son preguntas que a veces me hago. Pero debo reconocer que me gustan las cosas así como están. Si la cima de la montaña fuera un lugar más concurrido, quien sabe a dónde iría a parar toda la basura de la gente, o de qué modo afectarían el ecosistema. Por ahora, es suficiente con subir y ver que la naturaleza reclama su espacio y que todo se mantienen en orden a pesar de las huellas del hombre.
Why did they abandon this place? Was it too ambitious a project? Why doesn't anyone talk about it? These are questions I sometimes ask myself. But I have to admit that I like things the way they are. If the top of the mountain were a busier place, who knows where all the people's trash would go, or how it would affect the ecosystem. For now, it is enough to go up and see that nature reclaims its space and that everything is kept in order despite the traces of man.
