Today I bring you the third lesson of this Conceptual Art Course.
What are the Ingredients of Drawing? How can I do to improve my drawings?
As I said before, Drawing is the Art of transforming 3D reality into 2D.
In the diagram below you can see the Ingredients of Drawing. These are:
1.- Perspective: It is the way to simulate how the objects look in space.
2.- Design: These are the fundamentals that allow us to generate appropriate forms, in order to create aesthetically beautiful and attractive images.
3.- Values: It is the art of organizing light and dark tones in different layers, in order to give depth, and that the drawing is correctly understood.
4.- Colors: It consists of applying in an analytical, fluid, and harmonic way the different tonalities, in order to produce the emotional atmosphere that we wish for our images.
5.- Composition: It is the ability to organize the forms, values, and colors within an image with the objective of producing harmony and balance, by means of contrasts.
6.- Narrative: It is the skill of telling stories with our images.
At the beginning of this course, we will focus on the study of the basics of drawing, to move up in the complexity of topics.
Although you may not understand it at first, I must assure you:
What makes us believe that some have a talent for drawing and painting and others do not, is the continuity of practice.
If we want to improve in drawing we must repeat many times in time, the exercises presented in this course and other similar ones.
A VERY IMPORTANT SECRET
The key to good drawing is OBSERVATION.
The tasks that I show you and propose below, are intended to refine your observation process, to give you the opportunity to practice the important aspects, which will lead you to perfect the stroke, the fundamental basis of the drawing.
The better the stroke, the better the quality of the drawing.
ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: Simple copying of 3D images.
STEPS:
1.- Download images of basic 3D objects from the internet.
There are several web pages, from which we can download, for free, basic 3D shapes that will help us to develop this topic. Among them, I recommend https://3dviewer.net and https://www.sketchfab.com.
To facilitate this activity, I will leave two (2) empty formats that I built, from images obtained from these webs, so that you can download them, and begin to make your tracings.
Place them on a blank canvas and copy the 3D models to one side until you finish them. Then go over them.
3.- Once we have finished the tracing of all the elements, we must superimpose the layer of the tracing that we have created, to the original images. Thus, we will see where we are right and where we have missed the direction of the stroke.
4.- We bring the strokes back to their original position and correct the figures one by one. We superimpose the layers again.
Repeat this process until the position of the strokes coincides faithfully with the original 3D objects.
WARNING: WE MUST NOT CORRECT DIRECTLY ON THE ORIGINAL 3D OBJECTS but on the side. We must become craftsmen of our works, not copiers of others' works.
Task No. 1: Draw a 3D Cube
Draw a 3D Cube in different positions.

Superimpose the strokes over the original cubes, to see the errors. Then return the strokes to the blank to correct, until they match.
Superponer los trazos sobre los cubos originales, para ver los errores. Luego se devuelven los trazos al espacio en blanco para corregir, hasta que coincidan.

Task N° 2: Draw a 3D Cube in different positions.
Draw several basic 3D shapes in different positions.
Superimpose the strokes over the original shapes, to see the errors. Then return the strokes to the blank to correct, until they match.

These tasks were performed in Photoshop 2017 with my Star 03 V2 XP-PEN Graphics Tablet.

¿Cuáles son los Ingredientes del Dibujo? ¿Cómo puedo hacer para mejorar mis dibujos?
Como ya dije anteriormente, el Dibujo es el Arte de transformar la realidad 3D en 2D.
En el esquema que muestro a continuación puedes ver los Ingredientes del Dibujo. Estos son:
1.- Perspectiva: Es la manera de simular cómo se ven los objetos en el espacio.
2.- Diseño: Son los fundamentos que nos permiten generar formas adecuadas, con el fin de crear imágenes estéticamente bellas y atractivas.
3.- Valores: Es el arte de organizar los tonos claros y oscuros en diferentes capas, con el objeto de dar profundidad, y que se entienda correctamente el dibujo.
4.- Colores: Consiste en aplicar de manera analítica, fluida y armónica las diferentes tonalidades, a fin de producir el ambiente emocional que deseamos para nuestras imágenes.
5.- Composición: Es la habilidad de organizar las formas, valores y colores dentro de una imagen con el objetivo de producir armonía y equilibrio, por medio de los contrastes.
6.- Narrativa: Es la destreza de contar historias con nuestras imágenes.
Al principio de este curso nos enfocaremos en el estudio de las bases del dibujo, para ir ascendiendo en complejidad de temas.
Aunque no lo entiendas en el primer momento, debo asegurarte que:
Lo que hace que creamos que algunos tienen talento para el dibujo y la pintura y que otros no lo poseen, es la continuidad de la práctica.
Si queremos mejorar en el dibujo debemos repetir muchas veces en el tiempo, los ejercicios planteados en este curso y otros similares.
UN SECRETO MUY IMPORTANTE
La Clave del buen dibujo es: LA OBSERVACIÓN.
Las tareas que te muestro y propongo a continuación, tienen la finalidad de refinar tu proceso de observación, de brindarte la oportunidad de practicar los aspectos importantes, que te llevarán a perfeccionar el trazo, base fundamental del dibujo.
A mejor trazo, mayor calidad en el dibujo.
ACTIVIDADES A REALIZAR: Copia Simple de imágenes 3D.
PASOS
1.- Descargar las imágenes de objetos básicos en 3D desde internet.
Existen varias páginas web, desde las cuales podemos descargar, de manera gratuita, formas básicas en 3D que nos ayudarán a desarrollar este tema. Entre ellas, recomiendo: https://3dviewer.net y www.sketchfab.com
Para facilitarles esta actividad, les dejaré dos (2) formatos vacíos que construí, a partir de imágenes obtenidas de estas webs, a fin de que los descarguen, y comiencen a realizar tus trazados.
2.- Colocarlos sobre un lienzo en blanco y copiar a un lado los modelos 3D hasta finalizarlos. Luego repasarlos.
3.- Una vez que hemos terminado el trazado de todos los elementos, debemos superponer la capa del trazado que hemos creado, a las imágenes originales. Así, observaremos dónde estamos bien y dónde hemos errado la dirección del trazo.
4.- Llevamos de nuevo los trazos a su posición original y corregimos una a una las figuras. Volvemos a superponer las capas.
Repetimos este proceso hasta que la posición de los trazos coincidan fielmente con los objetos 3D originales.
OJO: NO DEBEMOS CORREGIR DIRECTAMENTE SOBRE LOS OBJETOS 3D ORIGINALES sino a un lado. Debemos convertirnos en artesanos de nuestras obras, no en copiadores de las obras de otros.
Tarea N° 1:
Dibujar un Cubo 3D en diferentes posiciones.
Tarea N° 2:
Dibujar varias formas básicas 3D en diferentes posiciones.
Estas tareas fueron realizadas en Photoshop 2017 con mi Tableta Gráfica Star 03 V2 XP-PEN.
