Un padre muy afligido
con pena se lamentaba
porque su hijo querido
de la escuela desertaba.
¡Qué grande pena la mía!
¡Qué frustración me he llevado!
Yo soñaba que algún día
tendría un hijo licenciado.
Pero miren de qué modo
se trocaron las cuestiones
y he venido a perder todo
al perder mis ilusiones.
Y el burro que lo llevaba
sobre su lomo montado,
y que atento lo escuchaba
le soltó el desaguisado:
De lo que usted se lamenta
no puedo entenderlo yo,
pues si saca bien la cuenta
verá que nada perdió.
Ha perdido un licenciado,
eso es muy cierto, ¡por Dios!,
pero un burro se ha ganado
y conmigo tendrá dos
