EL BURRO Y EL PERRO CONSEJERO
Viendo a un borrico pasar
llevando al lomo su carga
un perro pedante y singular
le dice con su voz amarga:
He aquí un ejemplo para ver
al bruto que se queda bruto
sin jamás probar el fruto
que prodiga la ciencia y el saber.
Ciego para siempre, sin querer,
pequeño el corazón, ajado, enjuto,
la mente oscurecida como el luto,
ignorante y esclavo ha de ser.
¿Qué de la vida puedes pretender
si de la ignorancia caes al fondo
y no sabes ni la «o» por lo redondo
ni sabes escribir y no sabes leer?
Burro tonto, si hubieras estudiado
tu trabajo no sería tan desdichado,
serías un contador o un licenciado,
un médico, un maestro, un abogado...
Y el burro le contesta: ―¡Cómo no!
Si yo hubiera estudiado, perro estúpido,
dime tú ¿qué otro «cuadrúpido»
«hadría» el trabajo que hago yo?
