MONTAJE DE MI PRIMERA EXPOSICION EN UN SALON DE ARTE EMERGENTE [ESP/ENG]

Hola HIVE espero que todos se encuentren muy bien disfrutando del arte en todas sus expresiones.
Last year, 2025, I was able to live some great experiences related to art. One of those experiences was participating in an emerging art salon and exhibiting at the Museum of Fine Arts in Caracas. Today I will be sharing a bit about that experience and specifically about how the installation piece I exhibited on that occasion was set up.
El pasado año 2025 se me permitió vivir grandiosas experiencias relacionadas al arte, una de esas experiencias es que pude participar en un salón de arte emergente y exponer en el museo de bellas artes de la ciudad de Caracas; hoy les estaré compartiendo un poco de esa experiencia y específicamente de como fue el montaje de la pieza instalativa que expuse en esa ocasión.
One of those days when causality plays its part, I saw on some social network an announcement for a call for proposals for artistic expression for emerging "young" people in contemporary art; I did not hesitate to submit an installation piece that I had made some time ago for the final delivery of a semester at the art university.
Un día de esos en los que la causalidad hace de las suyas, coloco ante mis ojos desde alguna red social, el anuncio de una convocatoria para postular una propuesta de expresión artística para "jóvenes" emergentes en el arte contemporáneo; yo no dude en postular una pieza instalativa que había realizado un tiempo atrás para la entrega final de un semestre en la universidad de artes.
It took about six weeks for the results to be announced, and once again, just like at the beginning, I happened to see the announcement of the participants selected to exhibit in this regional emerging art exhibition. The joy that filled me when I saw my name among those selected for this art competition is indescribable; I was truly happy.
Pasaron como 6 semanas para que dieran los resultados, nuevamente como al principio la causalidad me permitió ver el anuncio de los participantes que quedaron seleccionados para exponer en este salón regional de arte emergente. Es indescriptible la alegría que abrazo mi ser cuando vi mi nombre entre los participantes seleccionados para esa convocatoria de arte, realmente estaba feliz.
Then the adventure began. All participants were summoned to several interviews to organize the entire process of receiving the pieces that were going to be exhibited. There, the 21 emerging artists who would be exhibiting at the fine arts museum a month later were able to meet.
Luego comenzó la aventura, citaron a todos los participantes a varias entrevistas para organizar todo el proceso de recepción de las piezas que se van a exponer, allí nos pudimos conocer los 21 artistas emergentes que estaríamos exponiendo en el museo de bellas artes un mes después.
I presented an installation piece (an "installation" is a medium used in contemporary art to address a space with a specific concept; of course, this is a very simple way of explaining it) entitled "METRO-VERSE" in which I used various elements such as light, sound, movement, photographs and many discontinued tickets from the Caracas metro to generate a dialogue with a space and the spectators, making a critique of the systems and of social unconsciousness itself.
Presente una pieza instalativa (la "instalación" es un medio que se usa en la contemporaneidad para abordar un espacio con un concepto especifico; claro, esta es una manera muy simple de explicarlo) titulada "METRO-VERSO" en donde use varios elementos como luz, sonido, movimiento, fotografías y muchos tickets descontinuados del metro de Caracas para generar un dialogo con un espacio y los espectadores, haciendo una crítica a los sistemas y a la misma inconsciencia social.
For this occasion, I had to make some modifications to the installation piece from its original form, as I had conceived it for the university presentation. In the museum, I can't make any perforations or modifications to the structure because it's a national cultural heritage site. One of the objects in the installation needed to be hung from the ceiling, so I had to modify it and turn it into a lamp with a support pole. It turned out very well because I chose aluminum for the base, which resembles the central poles in subway cars that allow you to hold on while traveling.
Para esta ocasión tuve que hacerle algunas modificaciones a la pieza instalativa de cómo era antes cuando la idee para presentarla en la universidad, ya que en el museo no puedo hacer ninguna perforación, ni modificación a la estructura, porque es patrimonio cultural de la nación. Uno de los objetos que componen la instalación requería ser colgado en el techo, tuve que modificarlo y convertirlo en una lampara con paral, pero quedo muy acertado porque elegí un material de aluminio para hacer la base y asemeja a los tubos centrales en los vagones del metro que te permiten sostenerte mientras viajas.
I designed the entire rotating device of the lamp from scratch, using a skate wheel, several electrode rods, and a small remote-controlled car motor; I attached all of that to the socket and the light bulb, and fixed them to the stand I made with aluminum tubes, passing the wiring through the inside of the tube.
Todo el dispositivo giratorio de la lampara, lo diseñe desde cero, usando una rueda de un patín, varias varillas de electrodos y un pequeño motor de carro a control remoto; todo eso lo uní al sócate y el bombillo, y los fije al paral que hice con tubos de aluminio, el cableado lo pase por dentro del tubo.
I made the lamp housing out of cardboard so it would be light enough for the small motor to rotate. The housing has several slits through which the light shines, creating the effect of movement as the lamp housing spins. I don't think I'll post the installation video here, but I'll leave a link below to the Instagram blog where I posted the full video.
El casco de la lampara lo hice con cartulina para que fuese suficientemente ligero y el pequeño motor lo pueda hacer girar; el casco tiene varias rendijas por donde sale la luz y eso permite crear el efecto de movimiento mientras el casco de la lampara gira. Por acá no creo que publique el video de la instalación, pero más abajo dejare el enlace del blog en Instagram donde publique todo el video.
Some other elements that accompany the installation are a carpet made of many tickets that were formerly used to pay for subway fares; there is also a soundscape that lasts 3 minutes in which a dialogue is generated within that subway verse, in the Instagram video you can appreciate all the audio, I invite you to go and see it.
Algunos otros elementos que acompañan la instalación son una alfombra de muchos tickets con el que se pagaba antiguamente el pasaje del metro; también hay un ambiente sonoro que dura 3 minutos en donde se genera un dialogo dentro de ese metro verso, en el video del Instagram se puede apreciar todo el audio, te invito a ir a verlo.
The last thing I need to detail that makes up the installation piece are 6 photographs that show a reality, a social context inside the subway cars; here are the photographs for you to appreciate.
Lo último que me falta por detallar que conforma la pieza instalativa son 6 fotografías que muestran una realidad, un contexto social dentro de los vagones del metro, aquí les dejo las fotografías para que las puedan apreciar.
This was part of the installation of my piece that I exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts alongside 20 other emerging artists. As with everything, there were setbacks and the classic bureaucratic hassles, but I prefer to highlight all the positive aspects. I'm grateful to the staff who helped me with the installation. Esto fue parte del montaje de mi pieza que expuse en el museo de bellas artes junto a 20 artistas emergentes, como en todo pasaron sus contratiempos y disgustos clásicos de la burocracia, pero me gusta más resaltar todo lo positivo, agradecido con el personal que me colaboro con el montaje.
