RE: An original thought on the kaleidoscope of the artist

in The LIFESTYLE LOUNGE4 years ago (edited)

We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations.

Exactly. Turning requires effort. Not everybody is willing to turn that kaleidoscope. And even when you are willing, you must put effort to get knowledge of existing ideas that can be tied with each other in a meaningful manner. In a way that the outcome would have some value to the others: practical, educational or entertainment value.

Twisting shot in a tube will only result in the same material you put into. Mark said it with great simplifications, for the minds of that era to understand probably. But it takes so much time and effort to come up with the correct "pattern".

Sort:

For sure - there is skill in the turning, skill in the perseverance, skill in the recognition of pattern and potential - now everyone has the will to turn, very few see the patterns, even fewer follow through to create.
