Happy New Year my people!
I'm not asking for anything complicated, I just want everyone who reads this to be happy, that this year we can break down the barriers and be with the people we love.
2021 began and my night was fantastic, I shared with my Veneguayans family, those people that I have had the joy of meeting in this year and a half of adventure in Uruguay, last year we also spent it together, this year they joined the group, Willy , Vanesa and my mother-in-law.
We are all Venezuelans, we met in a shared house where we lived the first months as immigrants, then each one in their own home we continued to share like the first day.
Feliz año mi gente!
No pido nada complicado, solo quiero que todo el que lea esto sea feliz , que este año podamos romper las barreras y estar junto a los seres que amamos.
Comenzó el 2021 y mi noche fue fantástica, compartí con mi familia Veneguaya, esas personas que he tenido la dicha de conocer en este año y medio de aventura en Uruguay, el año pasado la pasamos juntos también, este año se agregaron al grupo Willy, Vanesa y mi suegra.
Todos nosotros somos Venezolanos, nos conocimos en una casa compartida donde vivimos los primeros meses como inmigrantes, luego cada quien en su propia casa seguimos compartiendo como el primer día.
The Venezuelan who lives abroad celebrates the New Year twice, when it is twelve in his country of residence and when it is twelve in Venezuela.
Here in Uruguay there is an hour more than there, so first I celebrated with my friends and an hour later I called my mother, my father and my little brother by video call, where we talked for a little while and they made me feel like I was at home with them.
Before twelve, we dance and have fun for a while, then we welcome the new year by toasting with wine and doing the grape ritual that basically consists of thinking about 12 wishes (preferably tangible and realistic) and thinking about each of the wishes while you you eat each of the grapes.
I would love to tell you my wishes but they are supposed to be secret.
El Venezolano que vive en el exterior celebra el año nuevo dos veces, cuando se hacen las doce en su pais de residencia y cuando se hacen las doce en Venezuela.
Aquí en Uruguay hay una hora mas que allá, así que primero celebre con mis amigos y una hora después llame a mi mama, mi papa y mi hermanito por videollamada, donde hablamos un ratito y me hicieron sentir como si estuviera en casa con ellos.
Antes de las doce, bailamos y nos divertimos un rato, luego recibimos el año nuevo brindando con vino y haciendo el ritual de las uvas que consiste básicamente en pensar el 12 deseos (preferiblemente tangibles y realistas) y pensar cada uno de los deseos mientras te comes cada una de las uvas.
Me encantaría decirles mis deseos pero se supone que deben ser secretos.
After that, we took a lot of photos, we went out to see the fireworks, also to wish a happy new year to some neighbors or people who were walking in that area at that time.
We hope it was time to call Venezuela, where each one took the time to talk to their family members and share a little bit like that by video call.
Some of us are a bit saddened by this moment, because of the losses of the year 2020, or simply because we miss be with our families.
Luego de eso, nos tomamos un monton de fotos, salimos a la calle a ver los fuegos artificiales, tambien a desear feliz año a algunos vecinos o personas que caminaban en ese momento por esa zona.
Esperamos que fuera la hora de llamar a Venezuela, donde cada uno se tomo el momento de hablar a sus familiares y compartir un poco asi fuera por videollamada.
Algunos este momento nos entristece un poco, por las perdidas del año 2020, o simplemente porque extrañamos estar con nuestras familias.
Before twelve, we had a lot of snacks, a plate of cheeses and cold cuts, bread with delicious spreads made by the hostess Diana, and some potatoes or cookies.
It was only after receiving the year 2021 that the boys began to grill, which consisted of pork fillet and sausages, which we then accompanied at Christmas dinner with chicken salad (here the recipe) made by me and bread of ham made by Diana.
Antes de las doce, comimos muchas picadas, una tabla de quesos y embutidos, pan con deliciosas salsas untables que hizo la anfitriona de la noche Diana y algunas papas o galletas.
Recién después de recibir el año 2021 fue que los chicos comenzaron a hacer la parrilla, que consistía de filet de cerdo y chorizos, lo cual luego acompañamos en la cena navideña con la ensalada de gallina (aquí la receta) realizada por mi y pan de jamon que hizo Diana.
After lunch we use the laptop to sing Karaoke, I hope you will excuse us, because we do not have the most fabulous voices but what really matters is that we enjoy the night, we laugh a lot and that in the company of this small but beautiful Veneguayan family, even if we are more than 7000 km of our family, we can feel Christmas as in our own home.

Luego de comer usamos la laptop para cantar Karaoke, espero nos disculpen, porque no tenemos las voces mas fabulosas pero lo que realmente importa es que disfrutamos la noche, nos reímos mucho y que en compañía de esta pequeña pero bonita familia Veneguaya, aunque estemos a mas de 7000 km de nuestra familia, podemos sentir las navidades como en nuestro propio hogar.
