Messaages from Christmas Past

I went to my mailbox yesterday and retrieved a Christmas card with a beautiful message inside. In the past few years, they had lost my current address, and well, time ticked on.

Apologies were sent for not being more diligent. I laughed because, at some point, every member of my family has had to call me to get my correct address. Truly though, it is not like I move under the cover of darkness, gone without a trace. I send everyone the address if I know it before I move. I am good like that. Anyway, it was a nice surprise.

Have you gotten any surprise mail this year?

May the enchantment and wonder of the season fill your heart and home. The magic of Christmas never ends, and, its greatest of gifts are family and friends.

Wishing you
The Joy of Family
The Happiness of Friends
And the Wonder
Of the Holiday Season.

It was heartwarming to read the recollections and memories of Christmas Eve spent as there was a rotation of houses that were visited, family and friends alike, How quickly time marches on and we both find ourselves immersed in our lives or raising our families and forming their futures so that we may someday host the event that creates the memories in their mind.

Everybody I am related to or good friends with has done the nutcracker cans. It is a tradition which I have shown before, but I got a few more, which I put all over the house. I show that you can use all sizes of cans and add raffia or even a handle. I do this when I am giving it as a gift and put some fun things in there.

Our families have grown so much, schools, where they are all doing wonderfully, theirs and mine. I miss the hum of the house with them in it, but, embrace the journey that is being made into adulthood. It was fun comparing and reading between the lines.

I often find myself, especially around the holidays longing for the casual comfort of family and extended family. Even with my siblings, were all, as some of you are, separated by miles, states, and immediate family needs. I find myself embracing and welcoming all who are without a family and include close friends to build more memories for me, and for my family. Of course, we don't do that on conscience, but, it is what happens nonetheless.

I love Christmas, I embrace the giving, of my person, although sometimes through gifts that are made by me, sharing, creating, and remembering. We cherish the memories and the moments made.

Hoping that you and your family are healthy, happy, and able to share some wonderful moments this Christmas. Much love, always. And because it is Christmas and it's all about love and sharing, I leave this with you: May there be peace on earth, goodwill towards man. Truly. Truly. Could there be?

I dedicate this post to all of you. You bring joy to my soul and spread your love across the world. For this, I thank you. And just like that, these musings are done...and just so you know, although we are throwing glitter around the globe, I can guarantee you that there is still a little left to take us through Christmas. Have a most fabulous day!

Thank you for visiting my post 💖 Don't ever forget what a wonderful world we live in, people. Some days, it is not as easy to see, just how wonderful it really is. For me, I try to do my part. Kindness counts. Wherever you go, whatever you do.

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed,
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st,
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Did you buy Cupid yet? :)

Cupid is out of the budget. Maybe when I score big!

You are a very spirited woman .. This time of the year more so...🎄

Thank you! I think!! :))

Even you have to admit, that this is the best time of the year. If we are not counting all the snow that we are supposed to get tomorrow. We didn't get any snow last year and now they want to dump seven or eight in on us. I will wait to see how much that actually is before I start crying. I just remembered that it's going to be me that shovels the sidewalks! That's what happens when the whole house leaves for a day or two!

Hi, Mike!! @manorvillemike

Don't over do it with the snow shovel @dswigle Get a guy with a snow blower to help you out if it gets bad..

I promise!!

Beautiful post with warming message!
Wishing you a very happy Christmas!

Best.

Thank you so much for the warm words and the always positive message. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas also and that the world sees some immediate and positive results.

Have a blessed day, @kamichan!

Happy Christmas @dswigle!
I like the way Christmas is done in so many ways by so many people and all are good, positive, filling souls and minds with warm feelings and general good heartedness. I have been known to receive a distant message from dear lost friends. The mail man works that bit harder too I reckon at Christmas as I have heard of cards getting delivered despite very badly, somewhat incorrect or lacking written addresses... and I don't mean to Santa! 😂I hope you get snow, an unexpected card and oodles of love and smiles from your nearest and dearest.
Lots of love to you Denise xxxx

I have not received any particular messages. We too have started decorating the house for the Christmas holidays

Looks festive! Christmas is such a beautiful time of year. This year will be different than most, but, I am sure it will have some special moments all of its own.

Have a wonderful day!

I agree, there will be good times this Christmas too

Who are you kidding... the musings are never done. :)

I don't ever remember seeing the nutcracker cans and I'm thinking... how can that be??? I adore them !

I'm so thankful for all my past happy memories and of course hoping for more to come, although it will be a challenge this year. It does make me ponder how much I take for granted and I astound myself. I know there is no way to be thankful enough, but ... I try to be. Even on the leanest years, there has always been family, love and laughter... you know, the most important things. I can easily afford the presents now, but that is not what I really want...

I am still in a happy tizzy for a moment trying to make sure I have everything in line to "send" to everyone.

~tosses more glitter in the air~

I have had the gathering of the cans since 1998. :))

I thought they might be a little bit too tacky to show off!

AAAUUoooh ! ~loud drawing in of breath~

Too tacky ?? TOO TACKY ???? Oh my dear, when it comes to Christmas, there IS no such thing ! I need to see more !

I just did one Snowman and the rest are nutcrackers!

.... and you said you had no artistic ability ! Me thinks someone has been fibbing. 😉

Those are so fun !

Well, I really don't. If there is a mistake, I can do it over. I use pictures so I don't have to use my imagination.

With our postal service being almost null and void I don't really hold out on any Christmas cards this year to be honest.

Over the last five years two arrive from the UK, a month late, nice surprise nonetheless since it is normally around my birthday 😄

Traditional old hand written cards have lost their way with technology, most send messages with greeting, not quite the same alas.

We have not had a traditional family get together since my parents passed. Siblings still see each other, holiday together or talk to each other every other day where there are too many miles between us to visit.

Have a wonderful Christmas Denise with family or friends who are able to connect, our too will be with our sons and sister-in-law (late brothers wife), possibly seeing my other brother on Boxing Day or as they call it here now Day of Goodwill.

Love the photographs, all the twinkling lights, nutcracker tins not a tradition over here... I only learned about them last Christmas or the one previously through @tattoodjay whom I hope is happy and settled in his new home, and we will see him again in the New Year.

Always nice to read your post and these Christmas posts are so wonderful to see and read 🌲
