Sound Stream.

Music follows me everywhere! It dictates mood and influences creativity. It accompanies me along my cooking adventures and allows me to get lost in emotion... There really are very few moments in my days when music is not present and I am always a little perplexed at people who seem to live without it for the most part... but hey, each to their own. This post will obviously not appeal to those individuals.

Yeah, I have my own music collection and digital playlists, but like with most things in life, I tend to go in the opposite direction to most completely unintentionally. I use Deezer, not Spotify - not that it really makes any damn difference - they are essentially the same service, and are pretty even steven when it comes to most aspects of comparison, just Deezer does not have the brand influence which spotify does. They do however have a bigger library of music and better sound quality for paid users - both of those things matter to me. Anyway, not my point... lol!

My point is yes, I have my playlists on Deezer - I have party playlists, rock, pop, lounge, country and several others. The reality though, is that we always gravitate to our own tastes and also, I find I get tired of listening to my personally selected tracks. I find that it becomes a little stagnant after some time. This is one of the reasons why I love doing the Track of the Week Contest every Friday. It is SUCH an awesome way to expand your own music library. I have countless favourites in my music library now compliments of that contest.

Having said that though, with the amount of hours in a day which I listen to music, even that weekly "expansion" is not quite enough... so about a year ago, I started listening to streaming radio stations. I cannot stand traditional radio stations because not only do they talk too much, but they also repeat the same crap day after day... endlessly. Streamed radio stations have made an awesome change in my music lifestyle and I now make use of them most of the time - only flipping to my personal library every once in a while... which makes it feel fresh again. Also, I get to add a lot of the new stuff I hear to my library in the process.

Anyhoooo, I thought it would be pretty cool to share some of my favourite streaming stations with all of you - and if you have any suggestions to add in the comments, that would be awesome too! To my knowledge, most of these can be accessed via browser too, so no need for Spotify, Deezer or any other paid app. So here goes...

RTL GREATEST HITS

image.png

Who doesn't enjoy the best of everything?! From Queen, Depeche Mode, to the Beach Boys and Tina Turner this station has a bit of everything! RTL Greatest Hits was probably one of the first streaming stations I discovered and I know that @eugelys and @notacinephile became fans themselves back our PHC server. They literally play a little bit of everything.

ARABELLA GOLDEN OLDIES

image.png

I am not going to lie... I love a LOT of music and my taste is exceptionally eclectic, but the old stuff is what REALLY does it for me!!! - For clarification and to bridge the generational "gap", when I say "old stuff" I am referring to the likes of Elvis Presley and others. Good 'ol fashioned 50's, 60's and a little bit of 70's. This station is a regular in my Sunday kitchen!

ALL ZIC CHILLOUT

image.png

This channel is my "working go to". The music is not intrusive, the DJ has found a nice balance of mixing relatively well known songs into nice easy listening versions. It makes good background music and I find it good for passive productivity.

JAM CHILL FM

image.png

Jam chill is a station I discovered more recently, and I love it! They play a lot of 90's R&B with a few randoms thrown in between. Can't say I enjoy "todays" R&B, but I do love the old school, hip swirling goods! It's a great "feel good station and definitely worth a listen if you enjoy taking a slight step back in time.

ALL ZIC ELECTRO CHILL

image.png

This was also one of the first stations I started listening to... it was also how I found the above ALL ZIC chil channel. It is pretty much the same thing, but a little more up tempo. I enjoy this channel when I am "getting into writing"... it gives me that little bit of "get go" that is often needed!

FFH WORKOUT

image.png

This is my treadmill station! DAMN I miss my treadmill lol - but yeah, I would climb out of bed, crazy hair, panties and t-shirt and hop onto my treadmill - headphones on, volume up and this station on FULL BLAST! It is ALWAYS upbeat and "feel good" and just the right tempo for a good morning work out!

I have a few more stations I listen to on a regular basis - but these are my main "go to's". Hope you like them! Would LOVE to know what YOURS are! PS. Not sure if these stations are available on Spotify (I imagine they would be), but they are on Deezer.

❤❤❤

Until next time...

This is a cool post for those who love music and yeah, my playlists (Spotify) sometimes feel a little familiar so it's good to inject something new. I love the diversity in the music you listen to...Reminds me of someone else...Oh yeah, me.

I remember back in ye olden dayes I'd stream radio stations from the States, country stations, as the music simply wasn't available here in Australia. Great things come from Australia, but country music is certainly not one of them. Cringe-worthy is being kind. So I'd use external radio stations on my dial-up modem occasionally.

I've lately had some great musical injections, and like you, music means much to me...I like to feel it and really struggle to relate to people who don't have it in their life. Their loss though. I'll look into the radio station thing although I'm not 100% sure Spotify has them...I'm technically-challenged you know...Another Australianism, for me at least.

Thanks for another great post...As if your fucking posts always look so good, come on! Leave some awesome for the rest of us plebs. 😉

I'll have to learn that justify text thing one day so I don't continue to look like an amateur.

I've never used Deezer, but sounds like I might need to try it! 😃

I had a look and it's pretty good. I may switch from Spotify. More tracks and better sound quality? A couple of compelling reasons.

I honestly would be lost without it! Although, having gone through MANY comparisons, there seem to be FEW differences to Spotify... just they have better marketing, so if you already have a library on Spotify... it would make little sense to change, because you would not be able to carry it over - unless of course you were looking for a "fresh start" :)

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

I saw Depeche, I clicked hahaha, thanks, it is great to discover places with good music. I love Tina, such a fantastic powerful voice

hahahahahaa!!!! Hook, line and sinker it sounds eh ;) Hope you enjoy them love! MWAH!

Ah yes, music... my mind altering substance of choice! We are very much cut form the same cloth, in that sense; music is a constant backdrop for my life.

I've heard of Deezer, but not looked at it (before now) previously.

Funny how I stumbled on this post exactly as I just spent a couple of hours going down Nostalgia Road with some old recorded Radio Luxembourg archives... a strange journey back to my teen years. Synchronicity is such a wonderful thing!

I know this isn't "Track of the Week," but this one is for you:

Ah yes @denmarkguy, You have LONG since been my musical companion hehe.... SO MANY of your tracks frequent my playlist... one comes to mind RIGHT now actually....

SERIOUSLY one of the COOLEST tracks EVAAAAR!!!! :)

Shit, I am doubting myself now... I am CERTAIN it was you that shared this.... if not you, then @derekrichardson... but 99.9% sure it was you.... but this track aside, I have a LOT on my playlist compliments of your "track of the week" contributions... :)

I know this isn't "Track of the Week," but this one is for you:

Off to listen.... and thanks :)

POGO! Pogo is awesome! I know I shared that one with you at some point... one of my all-time happy tunes. I've had that particular one on repeat a few times!

Yeah I thought it was you :) and it is... such a happy, feel good tune.
