I stand gazing across a sea of despair
Echoes of a distant tide;
My heart is filled with hope.
On the distant shore conflict rages.
Each claiming theirs is the better side;
Each side is just as blind.
Disease and Fear of it turn brethren,
Nowhere does peace and love abide.
But in the hearts of those who are true.
How long must this disparity rage!
Do we with love our futures bind?
Shedding rage and imagined slight?
The hope of love and new mornings,
Sunlight warming; let it rise!
Dispel the specter of dismay,
Let love have its way.

Yes. How long indeed.
I like that there is a glimmer of hope in times of darkness. Which seem pretty pervasive right now, at least to me.
Thanks Jerry!
Thank you Tom. I appreciate that you came by to read and especially comment.
I feels hard now for me to have any hope for our country.
I pray that Trump recovers and there isn't
TOTAL chaos during the election.
I apologize for being
Political @bigtom13
You certainly don't have to apologize, it's your place! Even if I disagree I can do so at least relatively civilly or even just STFU for a change :)
I hope for the same things as you. Less than a month to see how that works out. I have hope, but it is tempered with fear.
I am frankly terrified
I have a friend that wrote most of this scenario 5 years ago (he wiffed on the pandemic). As things started unfolding he gave up on the book. He's terrified, too.
Oh, I've been predicting this for a long time as well. I think these things and all natural disasters are natures way of cleaning house.
We breed prolifically while exploiting and destroying everything we (as a species) touch.
The human body has parasites and symbiotes inside and outside of us. For the most part they exist in balance with us and each other.
When WE do something to upset that balance, we get ringworms, or scabies etc etc...
So it is with the planet, but WE ARE THE PARASITES and we better come to grips with that.
We kill the host, we have no place to live.
Diseases that we have no immunity for are exposed from the primordial soil when rainforests and tundra are plowed up to be exploited. Ebola comes to mind.
I'm currently listening to some Michael Whalen on Pandora -- piano music is my "go to" when writing and reading.
It was the perfect background for reading this.
Truly touched me. Thank you.
I try to be uplifting and positive in what I write,
But since (at these time especially) I cannot
Seem to internalize those attributes, I
Can't seem to get back to writing as
Much as I once did. 2 new writings
In a week is a good indication
That I've found my "muse"
Once more. I hope so.
Love must always triumph, even in the most difficult episodes of life. We are born of love, we live for love, sometimes we die, but we always yearn for it. beautiful poetry from a feeling also beautiful that sometimes we human beings distort with our follies. I loved it from beginning to end. Thank you for sharing. @jerrytsuseer
Good Morning @marybellrg. I am so happy that you enjoyed my little attempt at poetic brevity. I believe you understand as well. I am grateful. Thank you so much

How many feelings in your words! Many times we feel this way, longing for change especially in these sad days in which we live. Don't ever lose hope for a better tomorrow. I loved reading you. A pleasure to meet you.
Thank you for the compliments @mariale07.
Nice meeting you as well
Do we with love our futures bind? Yes! Lovely work man, lovely.
Oh thank you so much @owasco, I am so happy you liked it.
I feel like this could equate to the coming election.. lol. I really liked your poem. I especially liked that surfer in the curl!! Is that you?? hehe. I wish I had the balance and agility to do something like that.
all the division etc...
We must beware of who is shaking the jar
I couldn't find the Floyd reference. So here's how I feel about those in conflict on that distant shore.
The stone....the stone....the stone...the stone...

Such a nice poem, may I ask what inspired this
My dismay over the handling of things here in the USA, in conjunction with the upcoming election
That is the main inspiration. Glad you liked it @jizzyjoe
That's nice, had a similar thought
