Celebrations are always special and more so when they come in pairs: marriage and birthday on the same day. These are once-in-a-lifetime moments worth celebrating and remembering. Marriage is the union of two people who love each other and want to share their lives together and well it is supposed to be until death does them part. Just now I remember that two months ago my husband and I celebrated 10 years of marriage, but it seems like it has been an eternity. I feel that we have lived so many things together, always together and now we have two beautiful princes. From my decade-long experience, I would dare to say that the basis of every relationship is trust. Living together as a couple is not easy, but it is part of that experience.

But I don't want to confuse you guys, the celebration was for the civil marriage of our compadres. They actually have 15 years together and three years ago from this wonderful union their only son was born, but it wasn't until recently that they decided to legalize their relationship. I felt very excited for them when I found out about this union because I remembered when my husband and I got married and well they are very dear to us because besides being the godparents of one of my children we are also cousins.

The date they chose for their marriage was unexpected and surprising because just the day they decided to join in marriage I was celebrating my birthday, a November 23rd 38 springs ago 😂. Obviously, this day will never be forgotten. None of this was planned and sometimes that's how they are enjoyed and turn out better than expected 😍. In fact, we were invited two days before because the Civil Registry had not yet confirmed the feasibility of the wedding for that day. When we were invited of course we couldn't say no. It was a good time to share as a family since because of the pandemic, family gatherings had been eliminated and we had moved away. We had been unable to celebrate birthdays or other holidays for over a year. Before the pandemic, we would get together very often with our friends and family to celebrate any special occasions or birthdays.

Without further ado, I will tell you how this day went and how much fun we had, apart from showing you a little corner of our country Venezuela and our culinary customs. 😊
My cousins opted to have a small celebration quite intimate with family and friends that was going to start after 1:00 pm. Since it was a weekday, the logistics we had to face were going to be very difficult, for such reason we decided not to take the kids that day to school in order to be able to prepare better.
The place where the wedding was celebrated is a restaurant that they rented exclusively called HOME FOOD DELIVERY which is located on Rio de Janeiro Avenue in Caracas, Venezuela. It was the first time we were going to visit this place, so we had to go in advance and thank goodness it was because the Google Map address they sent us was not accurate, it took us more than 29 minutes to get there. 😂

It is a very cozy place for any celebration you want to do. What I liked about the place is that it is outdoors. You have contact with nature. At this time of the year, the place is decorated with lights, additionally, they have a Dj who is super nice. In fact, he was the entertainer of the party. 😂
When we arrived the first thing we did was to greet our family and enjoy the family warmth that we needed to feel. Of course, the photos could not be missing.

When all the guests arrived the hosts decided to make the toast. For those who do not know, our country is going through a bad political and economic situation. For this reason, many relatives have left the country 😭. There are many Venezuelans scattered around the world. Thanks to technology we could be united for a moment 😍. From Chile, Spain, and the USA. How wonderful is technology! Because even if we can't give each other a hug in person, we can at least share in video calls. The truth is all this was very touching and beautiful at the same time. 😭

After the toast, we set the mood to enjoy the moment. The Dj did his thing playing music to dance to 😂. Venezuelans love to dance and could not miss El Trencito. It's a kind of crazy hour where all kinds of music are played and we all make a little train dancing to the beat of the music. It's a lot of fun 💃.
For snacks, they served tequeños (they are dough rolls with cheese inside). These divine snacks are typical of our gastronomy and cannot be missing in a Venezuelan wedding 🤣. Among the liquors, here in my country, you can not miss the Polar beer or bear-like is very known, is a beer super Venezuelan.

While we were dancing they began to serve the main course: Hallaca, ham bread and chicken salad. I must say that this is the quintessential Christmas dish in our country. It is precisely at this time that Venezuelan families gather in a kind of gastronomic ritual to prepare this laborious culinary delicacy typical of the Venezuelan people. Our custom is to make Hallacas as a family, listening to gaitas (typical music from Zulia state, Venezuela) and drinking a spirituous beverage. The whole family participates in making the hallacas, since it is quite laborious to make. And as I told you, Venezuelans are quite family-oriented.
To give you an idea of what Hallacas are. It is a bun made of cornflour with stuffing inside with a stew of chicken, meat, pork, raisins, olives, bell pepper, and onion. Wrapped in banana leaves. It is a delight 🤤.

After eating, we decided to continue drinking and dancing. Of course, chatting and catching up. Enjoying the moment.
The kids really enjoyed it because there is room to run around.
In the end, they decided to bring out the cake and my family took the opportunity to sing my birthday. It was all very unexpected and surprising. I had a great time, it was a totally atypical birthday. In addition to receiving many congratulations, hugs, and beautiful words from my family, my husband and children were kind enough to give me a gift that I loved very much and to prepare breakfast for me that day. I practically did nothing on November 23 🤣.

Las celebraciones siempre son especiales y más cuando vienen en combo: matrimonio y cumpleaños el mismo día. Éstos son momentos únicos en la vida que vale la pena celebrarlos y recordarlos. Un matrimonio es la unión de dos personas que se aman y quieren compartir sus vidas juntos y bueno se supone que es hasta que la muerte los separe. Ahorita recuerdo que hace dos meses mi esposo y yo cumplimos 10 años de casados, pero parece que ha pasado una eternidad. Siento que hemos vivido tantas cosas juntos, siempre juntos y ahora tenemos dos príncipes hermosos. De mi dilatada experiencia de una década me atrevería a decir que la base de toda relación es la confianza. Convivir en pareja no es nada fácil, pero es parte de esa vivencia.

Pero no quiero confundirlos, la celebración fue por el matrimonio civil de nuestros compadres. Ellos realmente tienen 15 años juntos y hace tres años de esta maravillosa unión nació su único hijo, pero no fue sino hasta poco que decidieron legalizar su relación. Sentí mucha emoción por ellos cuando me enteré de esta unión porque recordé cuando mi esposo y yo nos casamos y bueno ellos son muy queridos por nosotros porque aparte de ser los padrinos de uno de mis hijos también somos primos.

La fecha que escogieron para su matrimonio fue inesperado y sorpresivo porque justamente el día que ellos decidieron unirse en matrimonio yo estaba celebrando mi cumpleaños, un 23 de noviembre hace 38 primaveras 😂. Obviamente este día no se nos olvidará jamás. Nada de esto fue planificado y a veces así se disfrutan y salen mejor de lo esperado 😍. De hecho nos invitaron dos días antes porque el Registro Civil aún no le había confirmado la viabilidad de la boda para ese día. Cuando nos invitaron por supuesto que no podíamos decir que no. Era un buen momento para compartir en familia, ya que por el tema de la pandemia, las reuniones en familia habían sido eliminadas y nos habíamos alejado. Teníamos más de un año sin poder celebrar cumpleaños u otros días festivos. Antes de la pandemia nos reuníamos con mucha frecuencia con nuestros amigos y familia para celebrar cualquier ocasión especial o cumpleaños.

Sin más preámbulo les contaré como nos fue este día y lo bien que la pasamos, aparte de mostrarles un rinconcito de nuestro país Venezuela y nuestras costumbres culinarias. 😊
Mis primos optaron por realizar una pequeña celebración bastante íntima de familiares y amigos que iba a comenzar después de la 1:00pm. Como fue un día entre semana, la logística que debíamos enfrentar iba a ser muy difícil, por tal motivo decidimos no llevar a los niños ese día al colegio para poder prepararnos mejor.
El lugar donde se celebró el matrimonio es un restaurante que alquilaron exclusivamente que se llama HOME FOOD DELIVERY que queda en la avenida Río de Janeiro en Caracas, Venezuela. Era la primera vez que íbamos a visitar este lugar, así que tuvimos que ir con anticipación y menos mal que fue así porque la dirección de Google Map que nos enviaron no fue exacta, tardamos más de 29 minutos en llegar. 😂

Es un sitio bastante acogedor para cualquier celebración que desees hacer. Lo que me gustó del lugar es que es al aire libre. Se tiene contacto con la naturaleza. En esta época decembrina el local está adornado con luces, adicionalmente cuentan con un Dj que es super agradable. De hecho fue el animador de la fiesta 😂.
Al llegar lo primero que hicimos fue saludar a nuestra familia y disfrutar de ese calor familiar que nos hacía falta sentir. Por supuesto las fotos no podían faltar.

Cuando llegaron todos los invitados los anfitriones decidieron hacer el brindis. Para los que no saben, nuestro país atraviesa por una mala situación política y económica. Por esta razón muchos familiares se han ido del país 😭. Hay muchos Venezolanos regados en el mundo. Gracias a la tecnología pudimos estar por un momento unidos 😍. Desde Chile, España y Estados Unidos. ¡Qué maravillosa es la tecnología! Porque aunque no nos podamos dar un abrazo en persona, podamos compartir por lo menos con videollamadas. La verdad todo esto fue muy conmovedor y bonito al mismo tiempo 😭.

Luego del brindis nos ambientamos para disfrutar del momento. El Dj hizo lo suyo colocando música para bailar 😂. A los Venezolanos nos encanta bailar y no podía faltar El Trencito. Es una especie de hora loca donde se coloca todo tipo de música y todos hacemos un trencito bailando al compás de la música. Es muy divertido 💃.
Para picar sirvieron tequeños (son enrollados de masa con queso por dentro). Estos divinos bocadillos son típicos de nuestra gastronomía y no pueden faltar en una boda Venezolana 🤣. Entre los licores, aquí en mi país no puede faltar la cerveza venezolana, el oso polar.

Mientras bailábamos comenzaron a servir el plato fuerte: Hallaca, pan de jamón y ensalada de gallina. Debo decir que este es el plato decembrino por excelencia en nuestro país. Justamente es en esta época que las familias venezolanas se reúnen en una especie de ritual gastronómico para preparar esta laboriosa exquisitez culinaria propia del gentilicio venezolano. Nuestra costumbre es hacer Hallacas en familia, escuchando gaitas y tomando alguna bebida espirituosa. Toda la familia participa haciendo las hallacas, ya que es bastante laboriosa de hacer. Y como les comenté, los Venezolanos somos bastante familiares.
Para que tengan una idea de lo que son las Hallacas. Es un bollo hecho de harina de maíz con relleno por dentro con un guiso de pollo, carne, cerdo, pasas, aceitunas, pimiento y cebolla. Envuelta en hojas de plátanos. Es una delicia 🤤.
Después de comer, decidimos seguir bebiendo y bailando. Por supuesto platicar y ponernos al día. Disfrutar el momento. Los niños disfrutaron muchísimo porque hay espacio para correr. Ya entrada la noche, sacaron la torta y mi familia aprovechó para cantar mi cumpleaños. Fue todo muy imprevisto y sorpresivo. La pasé muy bien, fue un cumpleaños totalmente atípico. Además de recibir muchas felicitaciones, abrazos y palabras hermosas de mi familia, mi esposo y mis hijos tuvieron el gesto de hacerme un obsequio que me encantó muchísimo y de prepararme el desayuno de ese día. Prácticamente no hice nada el 23 de noviembre 🤣. Todas las fotos son propias.
