Ceuradi and others

In Aceh, Sumatra, we call this fruit Ceuradi. The Malays call it Kranji. This fruit is small, resembling a grape, black skin, rough but brittle. The taste of the flesh is sour-sweet and edible, covering the seeds inside. It is called the tamarind-plum. A more satisfying description of this fruit can be found on Dialium indum. In our area, Ceuradi is often found and marketed on the northwest coast of Aceh Besar because the trees grow wild in the forests and gardens of the area.

The story is that I stopped at a fruit shop at the Lam Baroe Traditional Market, in Aceh Besar, to buy fruit, and saw Ceuradi's fruit hanging there. The way the fruits were tied and hung immediately prompted my interest in taking pictures of them because so far I haven't had the chance to take pictures of them even though I often see them.

Besides, since this soft-fleshy sweet-and-sour fruit is native to places one of which, is our island, Sumatra, so I think it will be interesting to share. But from the sources that I have mentioned above, it is said that this fruit is also popular in several countries in Africa. It was wonderful to have things in common with brothers living on different continents!

So, at first, I was only interested in photographing this fruit, but then I continued to take pictures of other fruits that also looked beautiful apart from their amazing taste.

Among the other fruits are "Bengkuang".

This fruit is commonly known as jícama. The scientific name is Pachyrhizus erosus. Apart from being sweet, this fruit feels wet because it contains a lot of water and is refreshing, besides that it is said to be useful for diabetics and people who are on a diet. This fruit is among the fruits that are very popular and in demand at our place. So, it is also cultivated, especially in highland areas.

These are local oranges. Even though they have green skin, they are guaranteed to be ripe and taste sweet.

And this is a pear, which also has a higher water content. So except for Ceuradi, are fruits that can fill our mouths with delicious water.
