Broken heart at what has transpired in the country, exactly what I thought would happen and mentioned right at the onset.
Some days you sit in front of the keyboard the words just roll through your head, fingers refuse to type, since if I started I know it will become a rant. Have joined groups to try share the message out as much as possible, no time like the present to stand up now and make change.
Government will not change there is too much in-house fighting, too many well entrenched in stealing from the very mouths they promised to feed. Gatvol and disgusted!
That's exactly why I'm only now writing about these issues in more detail, although there's a whole lot more I could have said but tried keeping it short!
We took a drive to South beach today and was pleasantly surprised but will share that later this week.

I can just imagine! Seeing how our country has almost overnight been destroyed is heart wrenching but we should not allow it to engulf us, not easy though especially for you in the midst of the beautiful Cape winelands and being involved in tourism!

Indeed - It's a rough period we all have to get used with and which seems is not going to end anytime soon, but it's also a good moment to learn how to appreciate more everything that surrounds us and be more grateful to every new morning we get to open our eyes and live the life to the maximum
Very true @gabrielatravels! After I wrote this, we took a drive to the beachfront and enjoyed a walk on the promenade (with masks on as it was fairly busy) with the sound of the waves and the sea breeze and watched a big ship coming into the harbour. It felt so good seeing different scenery for a change, need not be stuck at home all the time!

My heart cries for this country of ours - as long as the government keep the uneducated's mind busy with nonsense from the past, they will keep stealing and destroying our country and get away with it. I hope a miracle happens soon. Where have you ever seen people get away with the amounts of money stolen by our government and the rate of crime... so sad

Thank you @livinguktaiwan, the problem is that the rot is now becoming more real as our government's incompetence is touching all of our lives now, and they only seem to understand threats of violence. Trying to have a sensible discussion on opening up responsible tourism is falling on deaf ears, quite unreal as they're also losing revenue through that!
Incompetence and corruption seem to be a common thread among government leaders be it in South Africa, South Texas or the United States. We are about to see a whole bunch of homeless people created here in Texas very soon. Up until now people couldn't be evicted for falling behind on their rent or house payments during the COVID situation but those executive orders by the governor are about to expire so come the 1st of August things are going to go from bad to worse.
Grocery prices have climbed steadily each week and supplies have dropped in the stores. So people are stressed to the maximum levels. Suicides & domestic violence have shot up to record levels right along with every other category of crime in our county.
"𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 (𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘦) 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘴𝘮 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮.", this quote should be remembered at election time. I hope your people have good memories and enthusiasm to vote him out of office, if not run him out of office sooner.
