Today I present a photographic series that I made of a Split Band Owl Butterfly Opsiphanes cassina, which was fluttering in my little garden.
Hoy presento una serie fotográfica que realice a una Mariposa Búho de Banda Dividida Opsiphanes cassina, que se encontraba revoloteando en mi pequeño jardín.
I was walking around the plants, on the ground, the flowers, etc...
She was thirsty, because despite her fear she would stop for seconds on the wet ground to absorb a little of the vital liquid.
Estaba dando vueltas por las plantas, en el suelo, las flores, etc...
Ella se encontraba sedienta, pues apesar del miedo que tenia ella se detenia por segundos en el suelo humedo para absorber un poco del vital liquido.
She looked very tired, because every time it was more difficult for her to take the flight, I approached her and took her very carefully, I left her in the shade on a leaf where I placed a few drops of water, she quickly started drinking, went there where I took the opportunity to have a few captures, since she was very busy hydrating.
Se veia muy cansada, pues cada vez le costaba mas alzar el vuelo, me acerqué a ella y la tomé con mucho cuidado, la dejé en la sombra encima de una hoja en dónde le coloqué unas gotas de agua, ella rapidamente comenzó a beber, fue ahí donde aproveché para hacerle unas capturas, pues ella estaba ocupada hidratandose.
This allowed me to take photos of it from different angles and distances, I would walk on the leaf when the humidity in that place was gone, it was time to add a few more drops. On one of the occasions a small drop fell on an antenna and on her eye, but it didn't matter much to her since she was so busy with her long tongue running all over the leaf.
Esto me permitio hacerle fotografias de diferentes angulos y distancias, caminaba en la hoja cuando la humedad se terminaba, entonces yo le agregaba unas cuantas gotas más, en una de las ocasiones una pequeña gota le quedó en una antena y en el ojo de la mariposa, pero tampoco le importó mucho ya que ella estaba con su larga lengüa recorriendo toda la hoja.
It has huge and beautiful brown striped eyes and its tongue is really long, its legs have suction cups that keep it very well adhered to the surface where it is, reading in google some information about butterflies, they say that they need to drink directly of floor liquids as they also absorb salts and amino acids, nutrients necessary for these beautiful insects.
Tiene unos enormes y hermosos ojos rayados color marron y su lengua es verdaderamente larga, sus patitas tienen como ventosas que la mantinene muy bien adherida a la superficie donde se encuentra, leyendo en google algo de información sobre las mariposas, dicen que ellas necesitan beber directamente liquidos del suelo ya que tambien absorben sales y aminoacidos, nutrientes necesarios para estos bellos insectos.
Its common name Split Band Owl Butterfly comes from the large marks it has on its wings, in this shot you can see them since I was able to capture it in profile, they resemble the eyes of said bird, which is why it receives that name in addition to its brown and gray colors.
Su nombre común Mariposa Búho de Banda Dividida proviene por las grandes marcas que tiene en las alas, en esta toma se pueden notar ya que pude captarla de perfil, asemejan los ojos de dicha ave, es por ello que recibe ese nombre ademas de sus colores marrones y grisaceos.
In this last shot we can see her from the front, you can see her eyes and she really has a very tender look, her long tongue did not stop sucking all the liquid from the leaf, after a long time of drinking without stopping and resting, she took off and flew away, I feel very lucky to have these experiences with those wonderful insects and to be able to capture them in photographs.
En esta última toma la podemos observar de frente, se pueden ver sus ojos y realmente tiene una mirada bastante tierna, su lengua larga no dejeba de aspirar todo el líquido de la hoja, despues de un largo rato de beber sin parar y de descansar, ella emprendio el vuelo y se alejó, me siento muy afortunada por tener estas experiencias con estos maravillosos insectos y poder plasmarlos en fotografías.
