In the world of mountain biking, there are trails that are just okay, trails that are fantastic, and trails that are absolutely epic.
And then, there are the rare few off the charts of any scale, beyond words, which not only leave one breathless in awe, but forever transformed by their beauty and perfection.
Revelstoke’s Frisby Ridge is such a trail.
Starting from the valley floor, the journey begins with a 9km drive up 730m to the trailhead. From there, it’s an 18km climb another kilometre in elevation...
The first few kilometres are your average type trail. However, there comes a point breaking above the main tree line where the experience radically transforms as entering into alpine.
Sweeping views of the valley. Grassy meadows. Fields of flowers. The odd serene pond. An entirely different ecosystem and vibe that is like something from a fairy tale, another world, and heaven rolled into one spectacular, lush scene pulsing with an organic freshness unlike anything found anywhere near sea level.
The climb up took about 2.5 hours at a relaxed, sustainable pace with a few short stops for pictures. A modest grade, not too exhausting. Scenery aside, a quite enjoyable ascent unto it’s own.
Yet, the landscape... OMG.
Whoever designed and built this trail... legends.
The brilliance, passion, and attention to detail poured into crafting this single track winding its way across the Kootenays peaks... sheer mastery.
There are moments in such a ride, where you can feel the quantum jumps...
Passing through the space, as though transported through a vortex as the heart is activated through the love that is the fundamental building blocks of matter composing everything in sight, everything felt through the soul...
The flow of the descent, such perfection.
The grace with which body, bike, and earth become one in a single fluid succession of dynamic bliss...
Such treasures to be found on this planet, for those who seek...
Serenity awaiting those daring to venture off the beaten path...
The costs of a bike, the entry fee to a world of wonder...
The experiences to be had in the discovery of such bountiful pockets of magnificence...

It's really to be speechless! This landscape is proof that life is beautiful. As in the ancient stories of adventure and legends, that man made his journey on his horse, you make it on your bike experiencing the grace of being alive. What wonderful images. I truly believe that there are things that should be experienced or felt only once. To be stored safe in if memories with nothing to tarnish or soil its beauty. This is definitely one of those things. Such a sight to behold. Absolutely beautiful. No words..
