Sometimes plans change and the result is a breath of fresh air. I was supposed to be hiking but the rain bucketed down so heavily that we cancelled. Tomorrow is another day. Instead, I ended up joining G at Muizenberg Surfers corner. It’s one of my favourite seaside walks along the coast and an easy 5 kilometre round trip. And that round trip includes a coffee stop at Dalebrooke Cafe! Hmmmmm….

G went out for a surf and I grabbed my raincoat and headed along the coastal path for a walk. I didn’t get too far before the rain came down and I had to find refuge in a subway below the train tracks that run along the coast. I love seeing the changes in the coast as the lighting changes and this moody day just added another filter over this view.

A short run through the drizzle later and I made it to the main road. Another kilometre and Dalebrooke Cafe came into view. Coffee is IMPORTANT!!!!! I was wet, sweaty, but still cold and the warm coffee was calling my name.

But the highlight of my return trip was the awesome graffiti along the sea wall of St James beach. The locals have connected to use Graffiti to educate anyone who visits the beach about the local sea life! It’s a brilliant collaboration and I’m a sucker for colourful graffiti.

Why are the last 5 various types of Nudibranch?? What is a Nudibranch?? Because it sounds like something very different to what it looks like! Well they’re actually a type of soft bodied Gastropod Molluscs that are actually carnivorous and eat fish eggs, sea slugs and other live prey.

But my favourite was this one. It’s a puffy something and I can’t remember the name 😂 but I LOVE IT!!!

This path is often so extremely busy in the Summer months so there’s something special about being here alone and having the path to myself. The swell was pushing up and breaking in clean sets along the rocky shore as I took the last few sips of my coffee.

I unlocked the car door as the rain returned for the third time. Already wet it didn’t make too much difference at this point.

Here’s to walking in the rain, wet hair and good coffee.

Beautiful murals at Muizenberg Surfers corner 👍 It seems a great spot for a walk and with a coffee, perfect 😀

Thanks for sharing these pics, The StreetArt Community.

Thanks! I love this stretch of coastline. It’s quirky and interesting. The art is the cherry on top.

You had a nice moment and ended with a warm coffee to keep you warm from the rain and how you were wet.
I love the images too.

Thanks so much! It was worth getting wet for the cool art and the hot coffee😉
