Hello homesteading community. I woke up to the sound of rain hitting the shingled roof and took that as a sign that I can (once again) spend the morning reflecting on the build, rather than actually building.

Yesterday I spent the morning tending to the garden and harvesting mulberries. Then, in the afternoon, I biked the half-mile distance to our build. The day before my friend and I had applied a wall of plaster and all there was left to do was smooth uneven bumps with the wooden trowel.

This sound easy and usually it is quite fun. But, as I have been at this for nearly every day for the past month or so, my arms are really hurting from the repetitive motion.

After only two hours my arms were tired and my muscles screaming out in pain. I took a break to prepare materials for future mixes. I also added more plaster to dips in the wall.

Normally this is my favorite part of the process; I feel like a sculpture as I smooth and add to the art that is our future bedroom wall. The only problem is that my body really couldn't take any more. So, I biked home.
And this morning when I woke up to hear the rain falling on the tiles above my head I was so happy. Nature is watering the garden for me and so, I am free to spend this morning planning content about the build and giving my arms a welcome break.

At the moment I have a script for a future video all about this process that I am excited to share with you all. After hours & hours passing the wooden trowel over the wall I have come to the realization that sharing about the process of building with natural materials is just as important as actually building.
Wow oooo 😳😮, this reminds me of how many of this kind of thatched and mood houses are everywhere in my village when I was growing up in those days.
This type of house keeps your drinking water very cool like from the fridges, but no, these are the natural impacts of God to mankind.
Very good you and your friend are reviving forgotten history of our old parents.
I am so glad to read your comment!! It is true, mud houses are an old tradition. Now I see a lot of people restoring old mud houses and also building new ones to fit with modern life. This house will have lighting and electricity and other luxuries of 2025.
Awwn, isn't this beautiful, having someone build their own home with their own hands. I'm so surprised to see the modern mud house title in that book, I mean who would want to build a mud house in these times.
I learnt that mud house can be built to become bullet proof as well, I would definitely live a mud house with some unique features.
A mud house can be bulley proof?! I love that idea. In general they can be such safe and comfortable homes when built right. Thanks so much for your positive and insightful comment 💚
You must have stressed yourself too much that's why you're feeling pain on your hand. Glad you took a break because our health matters a lot.
So true!! I am going to take a break all day and just focus on making meals instead. Thanks for the suggestion 🌠
