The storm hit finally and it took until after 2am for the snow to start to build up. I happened to get up about 2:30 and saw the thin layer on the deck. When we got up a few hours later we had 4.5" by 7am.
In order for @stryeyz to get to work I had to clear out the gate and brush her car off.
Then it just dumped all day long. The turkeys were pretty funny as they tromped around in the snow but they all stayed pretty close to the coop all day long. The boys had a full snow day off from school.
Shoveling the snow to try and get some paths cut was really a losing battle as the snow just kept falling heavily all day.
By 11am we had a total snow depth of 12.5" and I was hoping beyond hope that my idea would work.
My snowblower has a blown engine on it and my hope was that I could swap the motor out.
I cleared the snow off it and drug it in the tool shed where I popped the dead motor off.
My hope was that the motor from the old rototiller would work. It is just a little bit larger motor and the shaft is the same height from the deck. What I did not realize until i got the motor off and set next to the dead one was the shaft was the wrong size so the pullies wouldn't swap over. I was boned and really annoyed, and forced to shovel the driveway.
By 3pm we had a total of 15 inches on the ground and the storm had dropped 12 inches.
All I could do is shovel and push snow for the rest of the afternoon.
I started out at the end of the driveway and worked my way in. With the snow so deep I couldn't use my big push blade but had to use the shovel which I used like an oar in boat since the snow was rather light wight. I would toss the snow to one side then go back and work the other side. It helped to keep my back muscles evenly worked so I am not a disgusting ball of tight muscles this morning.
It was about 2 hours of throwing snow before it was getting dark and I had the main path into the yard cut.
I finally called it good and jumped in my truck to drive around the farm and make my paths. I have to get grain tomorrow so need to be able to get the trailer towed around. Since we have so much snow and I only have a shovel I figured I would just keep plugging away at it today and try to get the paths opened up fully and the snow pushed off.
Soaking was super needed after all the work. I had to clear off the cover again first and shovel the path before we could even get into though.
Not much more snow fell over night but there is more in the forecast for the weekend. The boys are on a late start today so far but that could still change, and it just did they now have a snow day. I have a shit ton of snow to move around, still need to run power and lights to the Tardis, move stuff from the house to the Tardis, then get the trailer ready for tomorrow morning grain run.

Here on the other coast all we got was a lot of rain and wind. Rather that than snow!
