Today I found a tuqueque somewhat different from the ones I am used to see running along the walls, this one has a combination of colors like black, gray and white unlike the others that are white and beige; besides this one is quiet not like the others that don't let me get too close because they run away. I was incredibly lucky to capture just the moment when he jumped; if you compare the first and the second photo you can see that at that precise moment the legs were already coming off the leaf where he was perched.
I am fascinated by the detail of the eyes; nature took delight in making a whole structure of strange ramifications inside its eyes although I cannot distinguish if it has a kind of internal eyelid since you can see something like a crack or division from top to bottom or I do not know if it is just a simple stripe inside the eye; as you can see in the following images this small lizard cleans its eyes with its tongue which is very comfortable for it since it drinks garbage when moving around; especially when it is hunting.
Another thing that I found interesting about this little reptile is that even though I was bothering him with the photo session he did not show displeasure nor did he try to run away like others that detach their tails to escape; although on closer inspection I think he has already done that practice; if you look closely at the tip of the tail you can see a difference in both thickness and texture which indicates that it has already grown again.
Some of the movements of these lizards are so fast that we cannot capture them as the camera did in the first images, which gives the impression that they disappear. Fortunately, the jumps they manage to make is only a few centimeters, which leads me to understand their way of hunting; they slowly approach the prey and when they are at the right distance they jump and catch their victim, since their speed is in their jump and not in running.
When they are walking towards a prey they move in such a way that they seem to bring out their reptilian qualities as they crawl in such a way that they look like snakes and also mimic the surface where they move; they are really quite impressive qualities. Hoy encontré un tuqueque algo distinto a los que estoy acostumbrada a ver corriendo por las paredes, este tiene una combinación de colores como el negro, gris y blanco a diferencia de los otros que son blancos y beis; además este es tranquilo no como los otros que no dejan que me acerque demasiado porque salen corriendo. Tuve una suerte increíble al capturar justo el momento en que salto; si comparan la primera y la segunda foto pueden ver como se nota que en ese preciso momento las patas ya se iban despegando de la hoja donde estaba posado.
Me fascina el detalle de los ojos; la naturaleza se deleitó haciendo toda una estructura de ramificaciones extrañas dentro de sus ojos aunque no alcanzo a distinguir si tiene como una especie de parpado interno ya que se puede ver algo como una fisura o división de arriba hacia abajo o no sé si solo se trata de una simple raya dentro del ojo; como pueden ver en las siguientes imágenes este pequeño lagarto se limpia los ojos con la lengua cosa que le resulta muy cómodo ya que bebe entrarle basura al moverse por todas partes; sobre todo cuando está cazando.
Otra cosa que me resulto interesante de este pequeño reptil es que a pesar que estuve molestándolo con la sesión de fotos no mostró desagrado ni tampoco intento huir como otros que desprenden la cola para darse a la fuga; aunque observándolo más detenidamente creo que ya ha hecho esa práctica; si observan bien la punta de la cola se nota una diferencia tanto de grosor como de textura lo que indica que ya ha crecido nuevamente.
Algunos movimientos de estas lagartijas son tan rápidos que no podemos captarlos es decir como lo hizo la cámara en las primeras imágenes por lo que da la impresión que desaparece afortunadamente el salto que logra dar es de apenas unos escasos centímetros; lo que me lleva a entender su forma de cazar; ellos se acercan lentamente a la presa y cuando están a la distancia correcta saltan y atrapan a su víctima ya que su rapidez está en su salto y no en correr.
Cuando van caminando hacia una presa se desplazan de tal forma que parece sacan sus cualidades de reptil ya que se arrastran de tal manera que parecen culebras además se mimetizan con la superficie donde se mueven; en verdad son cualidades bastante impresionantes. Bueno amigos ha sido un gusto compartir estas fotografías con ustedes les deseo que tengan una linda mañana, tarde o noche según sea su ubicación.
