Looking for fish, sailing out to sea at night, sailing ashore in the morning, catching fish, delivering fish to traders, selling fish, and fulfilling fish needs in the city are fishermen's routine activities.
Not only in Aceh, maybe Europe is the same, maybe the difference is that in Aceh they still fish in the traditional way.
Based on Law Number 7 of 2016 concerning Protection and Empowerment of Fishermen, Fish Farmers and Salt Farmers, what is meant by fishermen is everyone whose livelihood is fishing.
Fishermen are classified into four. First, small fishermen, namely fishermen who catch fish to meet their daily needs, either not using fishing vessels or using fishing vessels with a maximum size of 10 GT.
Second, traditional fishermen, namely fishermen who catch fish in waters which are traditional fisheries rights that have been used from generation to generation in accordance with local culture and wisdom.
Third, labor fishermen, namely fishermen who provide their energy to participate in the fishing business.
Fourth, owner fishermen, namely fishermen who own fishing vessels that are used in fishing businesses and actively catch fish.
In Indonesia, the number of fishermen recorded in One Data from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) as of March 23, 2020 is 1,459,874 people. A total of 719,309 of them already have Marine and Fisheries Business Actor Card (Kusuka).
