Such was the proliferation of these medieval buildings of a military nature, the castles, that the name of the main kingdom of the Iberian Peninsula, how could it be otherwise, derived from them: Castile.
Castilla or land of castles, also comes to mean, heterodox and freely speaking, a land of fantasy, legend and dark supernatural stories that dazzled multitudes of generations of Spaniards, listened to the sweet heat of the home fire.
Because with our castles, the same thing happens as with the traditional British manor houses: all contain a history of enchantments and in all the presence of the consequent ghosts to which a curse returns to earth again with the last stroke of midnight survives.

Aquí en Sucre tenemos varios castillos o las ruinas de ellos, pero ninguno tan bonito como este. Parece de cuentos de hadas!! Aquí, en el propio corazón de Cumaná hay uno de donde se mira toda la ciudad y se ve cuando el mar besa el cielo. La vista desde allí en fenomenal y mágica, aunque ahorita es peligroso subir hasta allá porque es una zona tomada por "los malos". En lo particular, me gusta que estas estructuras sean mantenidas y sean atractivos turísticos, porque la memoria urbanística construye identidades! Abrazos
Bueno, podríamos decir que este castillo es afortunado, ya que es una propiedad privada y ha gozado de una excelente restauración, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que en él se celebran bodas, comuniones y otros acontecimientos similares. Fue prisión de personajes ilustres, que por supuesto, dieron origen a las fabulosas leyendas que se cuentan. Y de hecho, es un castillo también cinematográfico, pues en él, entre otras, se hicieron muchos episodios de la serie 'Águila roja' e incluso varias de las películas del ciclo del hombre-lobo, como 'La noche de Walpurgis', protagonizada por Jacinto Molina (Paul Naschy) que cumplió con el rito de no ser profeta en su tierra y sin embargo, sus interpretaciones causaron bastante sensación en Estados Unidos. Lo que es la vida. En definitiva: uno de los pocos castillos cuya suerte ha sido mejor que la gran mayoría, que apenas son melancólicos restos mellados vigilando eternamente los anchos caminos castellanos. Un abrazo desde este castilloso lado del charco.
The stones used for this castle make it like a spotted castle. I liked it.
I suppose that in this case it will be the effect of the reforms, although in my opinion, their original originality has been quite respected.
