The search for Nirvana, even if it is in a metaphorical and, of course, comparative way, can be as illusory and vain, if it is sought outside the borders of the heart, than that other one carried out by the conquerors, when they fruitlessly exhausted all their resources, including dreams, searching through jungles and mountains for the legendary city of Eldorado.
I think about it every time I look at this beautiful monument, hidden in one of those marvelous secret corners of a well-known Madrid park, and I think I glimpse, in its marvelous contrasts, glimpses of that Nirvana to which the German Master referred, suggested by that courtship. courteous and customary -whose essence was already raised in the Gay Knowledge of the medieval troubadours- in whose background, even another great Master, on this occasion, of Swiss origin, would have found the perfect reference to what all beings can and should aspire to human, within and not outside the limits of the heart: to the true Nirvana that is behind the reconciliation of opposites.
Afirmaba cierto querido, respetado e inolvidable Maestro alemán, que no en vano fue justamente honrado con el Premio Noble de Literatura, que es allá, donde se localizan los contrastes, donde verdaderamente se encuentra el Nirvana.
La búsqueda del Nirvana, siquiera sea de una manera metafórica y, por supuesto, comparativa, puede ser tan ilusoria y vana, si se busca fuera de las fronteras del corazón, que aquella otra que realizaron los conquistadores, cuando agotaron infructuosamente todos sus recursos, incluidos los sueños, buscando, por selvas y montañas, la legendaria ciudad de Eldorado.
Pienso en ello, cada vez que contemplo este hermoso monumento, oculto en uno de esos maravillosos rincones secretos de un conocido parque madrileño y creo entrever, en sus maravillosos contrastes, atisbos de ese Nirvana al que hacía referencia el Maestro alemán, sugeridos por ese galanteo cortés y consuetudinario -cuya esencia, ya se planteó en el Gay Saber de los trovadores medievales- en cuyo fondo, incluso otro gran Maestro, en esta ocasión, de origen suizo, hubiera encontrado la referencia perfecta a lo que puede y debe aspirar todo ser humano, dentro y no fuera de los límites del corazón: al verdadero Nirvana que se encuentra detrás de la conciliación de los opuestos.
