I have been exchanging thoughts about travel with my Hive-friend Rick who encouraged me to share my travel photos from last year. In a comment on his post about Italy I complained that 2020 is a total loss - stuck at home because of Covid. So all I can do is relive my many trips last year, and the most memorable was to Portugal. A artist friend from Canada, Paulo Cunha, whom I had known for many years, but only then met personally, had invited me to spend some time with him in his native Portugal, at the condominium he inherited from his parents at Praia da Areia Branca.
this was actually on my third day, enjoying a drink with my friend at the beach
Prior to staying with my friend Paul, I spent a couple of days in Lisbon.
You can find a ton of photos just from this first day of discovering Lisbon in my Flickr album PORTUGAL 2019 - LISBON Day One
If you notice the clay pots on the windmills - they play a tune as the wind blows through them.

I will add more from this trip soon - the short video below may give you an idea about some of the rugged coastline we visited. Stay tuned!

MY INTRODUCTION - ABOUT MY WORK
Awesome! Thanks for posting these. I really love the windmills. I've heard before that Portugal is a nice place to visit. I wonder if I could get by on Spanish? I've talked to Brazilian people before using Spanish while they speak Portuguese. It's a bit weird, but better than not being able to communicate at all!
I am worried that we may be in the same boat for quite some time. I keep hearing about vaccines but it is hard to know for sure if they are safe with such little time for testing. I have to admit, it's been a really sad and lonely year. It's great to have people to talk to online and share experiences with.
Hello Rick - I missed answering your comment - was busy with other stuff and only now returned again to check posts and comments.
Yes, this virus is screwing things up big time. Even here in the EU, where it is not quite as bad as in the US. Like from Austria, Portugal has a travel warning, so even if I was going, I'd have to go into quarantine when I get back.
As for language: I never needed to worry, I was always with my Canadian/Portuguese friend, but at the (French) restaurant we ate regularly, the waitress/owner spoke English. I have another English-speaking friend, native in Portugal, who would also like me to return, she is also a artist and lives close to Lisbon.
