In most front ends, it is possible set your Hive rewards to either split 50%/50% Dollars and Hive Power or to 100% Hive Power. On the API level there are actually 10,001 choices you can for how the payment is divided.

I've always had no issues with a 50/50 split, so I saw no reason to look into it further. Good to know, though.
