You don't have to get too close to anyone and certainly not if you have always stressed that and don't want to. In politics it is sometimes like driving a car, you have to be aware of how you talk and act with each other. If you run a red light or if you always feel ignored, hurt and cheated, then something can happen.
I don't agree with the Spiegel author that you shouldn't listen to them. I am of the opinion that one should always listen and talk to each other and listen to each other, preferably already in peaceful times, even more so in non-peaceful times, in order to prevent many painful things. If you someone don't listen, the someone suffer deep wounds. I don't know how many nights and dreams it must be before we see a friend in the eyes of an enemy, especially when blood has been shed. If I was forced, if I had to stay there in my country from 18-60, I don't want that from my politician. I am of the opinion that only those who want to fight need to do so. Forcing is not a good action. If there are predominantly two nations in one country, then it makes sense if the politician and the citizens love all two nations, at least can suffer, I think.
If you judge a person as evil, then you can't easily get out of that view, people do that all over the world, but that's not good, because a person can always change at any time and is also not always evil, because a person is not only evil or good. And it is not easy to make up for the fact that one has done evil, especially if people have died or been hurt. But it can be a turnaround and a new beginning, if everyone is willing or able to allow it 🙏.

Maybe people aren't that so inert, maybe it's manifested too deeply in people that you have to obey and follow and that you have to do things you don't really want to do and you have to work a lot so that you can live.
