Spirituality, my point of view — Mi punto de vista de la espiritualidad

in Natural Medicine3 years ago

Thanks to this challenge from @naturalmedicine, I am writing for the first time here on Hive about my views on spirituality.

The pandemic and quarantine has given me some free time to read and explore certain topics. Just before the pandemic started, I had finished college, so I didn't have much free time. One of these topics was precisely to begin to find a way to identify with "something greater".

Although I had not written specifically about spirituality, I did recently write two posts concerning different philosophies or positions on God. This from a non-religious point of view:

Forms of belief in God separate from religion and church (written in Spanish)

Panentheism - The philosophy that embraces all postures regarding God? (written in Spanish)

Why did I write these posts? Although I always knew it somehow, I recently discovered that believing in God but not in religion was not simply an eccentricity, but that there are many postures about it. And it seems to me that more people should know about these points of view, beyond the one we are usually taught in school and in the family.

My point of view of spirituality goes a little on this side, and later in the post I will talk about other points of view. There is a kind of precept that anything that is not religious is atheistic. For as long as I can remember, I have not felt much affinity with religion, but I never came close to atheism.

During my adolescence I participated in a religious group, where we would get together to play songs and then read a section of the Bible. Those were nice times, because we played music, laughed and read interesting anecdotes. But it was not precisely the prayer or the religious aspect that I liked about that experience or what made me go.

Everyone decides to establish their beliefs and they should be respected, always with the objective of not harming others. According to my personal vision, God transcends religion or science, He goes beyond these things. And spirituality according to my vision is based on the fact that God is in everything, it is the energy that moves the atom, the ideas that we come up with in order to add value to the world. It is pure energy, pure consciousness.

In the movie Soul, people "illuminate" themselves by doing something they like. In particular, this kind of admiration for the universe and the natural laws that govern it is one of the things that "feeds" my spirit. Natgeo's "Cosmos" series is an example, it was in it that I discovered the vision of Spinoza's God. I am an engineer, and I feel this by somehow understanding how energy flows through matter and how we utilize it to build valuable things.

I find that doing things you love elevates your consciousness, spirit, soul or whatever you want to call it. Whether it's petting your dog, sharing with loved ones, appreciating nature, or Listen to the song "Echoes" by Pink Floyd::

I also have a view of spirituality based a little more on personal development. For me it's simply strengthening the spirit. Strengthening your inner self so that nothing affects you emotionally. Reaching higher levels of consciousness, which is not the same as being smarter or having greater social skills. Learning to see the world in a different way, eliminating defective "filters" in our mind that we have and do not realize.

For me the spirit is the sum of all the energy in our body. It is consciousness, I do not know if it is correct to say that consciousness is the same as spirit, but science has not yet managed to decipher consciousness. We do not see this energy, but we know it is there, just as there is kinetic energy in water flowing through a pipe. And emotion is precisely energy in movement, with the objective of flowing outward, to create, to give, love or altruism, whatever you want to call it.

In the end I consider all this important to learn to canalize this internal energy in doing what you love, in creating. And this with the objective of adding value. We see this in Hive, where adding value generates rewards.

As of today, I do not consider myself part of any religion. I have a fairly Deistic/Panteistic, or perhaps Panentheistic, philosophy. This is not to say that everything religious seems wrong to me. To me, writings like the Bible are still sacred and figures like Jesus or Buddha are representations of the most advanced human being, who becomes "illuminated". I just don't feel comfortable following the dogmas of a religion.

An analogy I often imagine is that spirituality is like cryptocurrencies, it's up to you to decide. Whereas religion is like the Central Bank, everything is decided by them and you just have to believe it and stick to their rules. I am not saying that religion is bad, but simply something that was and is necessary in society, but today it does not have the same vigency.

Writing this post has cost me a little, since I tried to capture all my vision on this topic and it is the first time I write about this in a complete post. Maybe later on I will continue to bring content to Natural Medicine about these topics, I also enjoyed reading the participations of @mirannalis, @soyunasantacruz, @mixbar.show and @garybilbao. And I'd like to invite @librepensadora to participate.

If you noticed, I've put two different Pink Floyd videos in this post, that's because I recommend you to listen to both, with headphones, while doing something. Their music is amazing.

¡Thanks for visiting!

Y me gustaría invitar a @librepensadora a participar.
