Cheap, easy, 3-ingredient DIY beauty recipe to exfoliate, nourish, and tone your skin. What I love about this simple skincare recipe is that it can be adapted to every skin type.
Though coconut oil works for any skin type, if you have acne-prone skin it can clog your pores even more. So if you want to use this scrub recipe on your face, simply swap the coconut oil in the basic recipe for raw honey, aloe vera, or cucumber + lemon juice.
If not 100% vegan you could use raw honey. Raw honey has antibacterial properties that may help to keep breakouts in check. Cucumber helps to remove excess oil while lemon juice brightens the skin. For centuries, aloe vera has been used to treat all sorts of skin-related problems like acne, cuts, burns, and minor abrasions. Or add a few drops of tea tree oil. It works wonder for acne-prone skin too.
Or use a different scrub or clay mask for your face instead. CLICK HERE to get my recipe for an easy aloe vera clay face mask.
If puffiness or dark circles under your eyes are your concern, add some turmeric powder to the mix. Coffee and turmeric calm skin inflammation.
Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that this coffee scrub is the number one enemy for cellulite. Caffeine tightens the skin and provides antioxidants to reduce the appearance of cellulite over time. The combination of coffee grounds; moisturizing, skin-soothing coconut oil; and a bit of raw sugar for an extra exfoliating kick helps to stimulate blood flow resulting in smoother, firmer skin.
When it comes to homemade natural skincare your recipe tweaking options are endless….
BASIC 3-INGREDIENT COFFEE SCRUB RECIPE
Ingredients
- ½ cup coffee grounds (fresh ort used)
- ¼ cup brown sugar, I used raw palm sugar (coarse salt works too)
- ¼ cup extra virgin coconut oil
Instructions
If you live in a colder climate, melt the coconut oil first. I live in the tropics so coconut oil is in its liquid state almost all year round.
Mix all ingredients together.
Store leftover scrub in an airtight container.in the fridge to prevent mold. Use within 2 to 3 weeks.
If using cucumber and lemon juice or aloe ver gel instead of the coconut oil, you might want to use it faster as it will not keep as long as the basic recipe.
How to apply
As said earlier, if you have acne-prone skin, you might want to use another scrub or mask for your face as the coconut oil may clog your pores. Or tweak the recipe accordingly.
FYI: You can either apply this in the shower or if your climate allows it, the garden and hose are fine too. That's how I did it this time!
Next, take a spoonful at a time in your palms and rub in circular motions onto your skin. To scrub my entire body, I use about 4 tablespoons.
Rinse off with water.
WISHING YOU ALL A HAPPY AND HEALTHY WEEK ღ ღ ღ

This is the SECOND time coconut sugar has popped on my radar this morning - clearly it's time to restock! Yes, we LOVE coconut sugar for healthy skin. And for eating in between times!! Damn I LOVE that stuff and can eat it straight from the jar. Knowing it is such a super health food?? There clearly is a Divine and Benevolent Goddess. 😍
