To the tobacco I arrived inhaling it between nicotine, tar and the many compounds that impregnate its essence with toxins and bad publicity. It was several years of college and night out where most of my friends smoked cigarettes. When I got home I had hair and clothes flavoring my room with a not very pleasant smell.
Al tabaco llegué aspirándolo entre nicotina, alquitrán y los muchos compuestos que impregnan su esencia con toxinas y mala publicidad. Fueron años universitarios y de salidas nocturnas donde la mayoría de mis amigos fumaba cigarrillos. Llegaba a casa con el cabello y la ropa aromatizando mi cuarto con un olor no muy agradable.

I identified with those poor victims, in the public eye without knowing it, trying to explain to a child why he should not consume that poison. I found it funny how blame is shared when it comes to cigarette smoking.

The photos I took show some references of the history of tobacco in Venezuela. A sacred and medicinal plant for our ancestral indigenous cultures, with different uses that generated a respectful and natural relationship. Tobacco like a grandfather who at the same time scolds, clarifies the vision and allows a connection with our internal focus.
Las fotos que tomé muestran algunos referentes de la historia del tabaco en Venezuela. Una planta sagrada y medicinal para nuestras culturas indígenas ancestrales, con diferentes usos que generaron una relación respetuosa y natural. El tabaco como un abuelo que a la vez que regaña, aclara la visión y permite una conexión con nuestro foco interno.
I quit smoking about ten years ago. At that time I had proposed to jog in the morning and I could feel how the cigarette habit affected my activity. It was not a traumatic farewell, but an extended one, one of those that take their time but is definitive.
