in Natural Medicine4 years ago

Mushrooms are a type of plant that is often found in the highlands, even in gardens and yards around the house. Because of its presence that is easily found especially during the rainy season, making mushrooms is one of the consumption choices favored by many people.

Besides being easy to find, mushrooms are also easily processed into various types of food. In addition, mushrooms are also rich in good nutrients that are beneficial to the body.

Mushroom Merang (Volvariella volvaceae) and Ear Mushroom (Auricularia polythrica) are some edible mushrooms. Whereas Amanita phalloides and Amanita virosa are poisonous types. Amanita phalloides can cause irritation, severe pain and damage to the eyes and skin. Amanita virosa can damage the liver and kidney in a short time.
Then, how to distinguish between poisonous mushrooms and not?

There are several ways that can be done. First, observe and understand the shape first and the nature of the fungus. So if you find it, we are alert first. Second, poisonous mushrooms usually have a striking color, odor and are easily destroyed when touched, and have conspicuous spots around the hood.

Third, do not take mushrooms that have not bloomed perfectly, because it will be difficult for us to know the type. Fourth, do not eat gummy mushrooms when cut.
Fifth, if the poisonous fungus is tightened, then attached to an object made of real silver, the surface of the object will appear black (sulfide) or bluish (cyanide).

Sixth, when it's already cooked, try cooking mushrooms with white rice. If the rice turns brown, yellow, red or black, it's likely that the fungus is poisonous. If true, the rice should not be eaten either. Seventh, poisonous mushrooms usually grow in dirty places, so avoid taking mushrooms from such places.

If you accidentally or have already consumed poisonous mushrooms, be sure to immediately consult a health service as soon as possible. This is done to reduce the greater risk.
Always be aware when consuming mushrooms that grow in the wild. Safe, eat mushrooms that are cultivated.

Nice to see you on Hive after a looooong posting break. 😆 Welcome to @naturalmedicine! This is really helpful information!!! It's especially relevant as more people want to try psychedelic mushrooms but have no good ways of identifying the various species.

We're just coming in to mushroom season in Thailand so this is super helpful to me personally. Thank you.
