Give Rose Bud a Try!

In Iran, Rose buds or Rosa Damascena is known as an ornamental plant. However, there are recent studies that attempts to explore its pharmacological use. Some studies emphasized on its neuropharmacological use and some explores its biomolecule. Most of the studies comes from Iranian scientist. For instance, a study in Iran explore its pharmacological effects especially for anti-HIV, antibacterial, antioxidant, antitussive, hypnotic, antidiabetic, and relaxant effect. Sounds great isn't it?

A study from there even call this plant as the Holy Ancient Herb and in the local language it is known as " Gole Mohammadi. This flower is a hybrid from Rosa Gallica and Rosa moschata. And they are commonly found in the middle east and like its name, Rosa Damascena is native to Damascus, Syria. Some of you may know this beautiful flower cosmetic purpose and even as a perfume but this beautiful red flower serves another purpose too.

So what makes this flower may have those potentially amazing effects? According to a study published by Milka et all, Rosa damascena contains beneficial components, the secondary metabolites as flavonoids (e.g., flavones, flavonols, anthocyanins), fragrant components (essential oils, e.g., monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes), and hydrolysable and condensed tannins. . The research conducted on this plant is also to mice. So, when it comes to human, there is no conclusive efficacy. But why not give it a try?

This tea has the most delicate and pleasant fragrance from all the flowering tea I have tried. As expected,it smelled like rose perfume. The smell makes me feel luxurious as if I was sitting in an grand old classic library with vintage leather books. I think this tea is more suitable to drink when you have a me-time in a tub filled with rose.

As for the taste, it has sweet after-taste which was pleasant. From the first sip, it reminded me of this lime-minty flavored candies that I loved as a kid. If you have sensitive taste buds, you will notice differences between flowering teas.

I was expecting the water to turn red like when I drink roselle or known as hibiscus. But no, the water turns soft-yellowish almost like ocha color. You will also notice that the buds bloom which is a beautiful thing to see. That's an instant mood booster right there, seeing this delicate flower bloom.
