It's lovely to see Hive so active in the alternative lifestyles communties. We've had new arrivals for the last few weeks and I do believe an upsurge in interest in self sufficiency is happening. I hope you enjoy some of the interesting content we have for you today and are up for the challenges that are happening in the communities.

Things happening in the community.

@eco-alex is keeping us on our toes as usual with the latest @ecotrain question of the week which asks what inner strength is and how you find it.

image.png

The last challenge has barely wrapped up and we already have the first entries coming in for the new @naturalmedicine challenge on tobacco. Is it poison or medicine? You'll need to be a bit quicker this time, because entries will need to be in by Monday.

A quick reminder that the @needleworkmonday opportunity to win 1000 HP delegation for a month continues until 15th June. See the latest post from the account to find the link for further details, but it couldn't be simpler. Just post your needlework content in the community on a Monday with the #needleworkmonday tag.

Welcoming Newcomers

New to Hive, still finding their footing and perhaps feeling a little lost and left behind in the crowd, is @pilzolli. I do help we can help this mushroom grower to find their feet and share their knowledge wide on the blockchain.

Some highlights of the week

We all know the dangers of smoking tobacco, but does that make it an evil plant? @creativetruth shows that there is more to this plant than smoking and shares its surprising uses in the garden!

image.png

Some of our biggest lessons come from failure and that is what @fotostef is sharing with us today. The food forest may have failed, but a lot of information has been gleaned from that failure.

image.png

When you keep livestock, there are going to be predators that consider them as food and what predators you have to deal with will depend on where you live. On @viking-ventures' farm they've been finding out exactly what kind of predators they have in the area and reinforcing the chicken tractor accordingly.

image.png

Cereals are often high in refined sugars, but taste so good! However, what if you could make you're own which still tastes good, but is going to be healthier for you? Perhaps this granola recipe shared by @goldendawne is just thing.

Each week one of our featured authors will be selected to be a 5% beneficiary of The Lotus Garden newsletter. This week @viking-ventures will receive this award.

Thank you for stopping by. This week's newsletter was brought to you by @minismallholding.

Sort:

So excited, to finally get on hive and figure this all out... I needed a month off to sort my thoughts and feelings about the Jason Sun thang and melt down of the world and steemit....
Glad to see you are all rocking things as usual!
I've been a gardening maniac, soon I'll share some posts on projects at home..
Blessings!

It's been a tumultuous time for all and I don't think you're the only one that needed some time to process it all. Glad you're back.

Thank you @naturalmedicine for this update, nothing better than seeing dynamic and healthy communities. I was recently visiting my family's tobacco crops, I think you have given me a good idea to post. Happy day

We're always glad to be able to inspire, here at Natural Medicine. 😁

Great post! Thanks for letting me know about some newcommers to the community! Thanks for the recent curation too on my blogs, I would like to delegate some HP to your page. Would you be interested? Upvoted!

Delegating to the @naturalmedicine account is always gratefully received and will open up the discord for you as a full member too.

Awesome, how does my delegation get me upvotes on my content as you said?

Your delegation doesn't guarantee upvotes, your activity and content within the parameters that the account supports will be the most likely way to receive upvotes.

Okay sure, thanks!

I am glad to see naturalmedicine community growing and including under it's wings a whole lifestyle!

Thank you for the mention and for this wonderful selection of posts!

It's going from strength to strength! Enjoyed your post and was eager to share. I'm working in a similar climate and making similar discoveries.

A striking, useful and really well-thought-through curation #minismallholding - Brava!! Some VERY cool new initiatives (like the mushroom growers community!) and HOW USEFUL was that tobacco post from @creativethruth?!!

Appreciating your curating-self. x

That tobacco post was an eyeopener! One of my future hopes is to learn more about growing mushrooms, too.

I'm wanting to learn via that mushroom growing community too - I have high hopes for my Karen refugees to be growing and dehydrating organic shitake, reishi and lion's mane. As a serious wild-forest enterprize. Solar powered bamboo mushroom houses.

A huge hug 🤗 and a little bit of !BEER 🍻 from @amico!

Un caro abbraccio 🤗 e un po' di BEER 🍻 da @amico!

Thank you!
There's always more to learn!
