Have you heard the idiom "Bitter pills may have blessed effects"?
My mom always says that when she wants me to take medicine. Most medicines are bitter. It's not easy for kids to take medicine. Me too. In this post I'd like to talk about a Thai herb called Fa Thalai Chon or Andrographis Paniculata. It is called the "King of Bitters". I believe it because I tasted it. Crazy Bitter!

สมัยเด็กๆ แม่ชอบพูดอย่างนั้น ตอนที่ต้องการให้ฉันกินยา ยาส่วนใหญ่ก็ขมซะด้วยซิ มันไม่ใช่เรื่องง่ายเลยที่ให้เด็กกินยา จริงไหมละ และฉันก็เป็นหนึ่งในนั้น และสำหรับบทความนี้ อยากขอแนะนะยาสมุนไพรไทย ที่ชื่อว่า ฟ้าทะลายโจร ซึ่งขึ้นชื่อว่าเป็นสมุนไพรที่ขมที่สุด ส่วนตัวฉันก็คิดอย่างนั้นนะ เพราะ ลองมาแล้ว มันขมสุดๆไปเลย
Health Benefits
Andrographis paniculata is commonly known as creat or green chireta or Fa Thalai Chon in Thailand. Pharmacological research shows that fresh leaves, dried leaves, and stem have many many medicinal properties such as stopping the growth of cancer cells, reducing blood pressure, preventing colds, and relieving fever and sore throat symptoms.
ประโยชน์ของมันมีมากมาย จากการวิจัยทางการแพทย์ พบว่าใบสด ใบที่ตากแห้ง และลำต้นมีสรรพคุณมากมาย เช่น หยุดการเจริญเติบโตของเซลล์มะเร็งม ลดความดันเลือด ป้องกันไข้หวัด ลดไข้ และอาการเจ็บคอ มันใช้ได้ดีกับอาการหวัดเลยนะคะ
Usage of Fa Thalai Chon
As you knew, Fa Thalai Chon is very bitter. When I was young, my mom usually made tea from the leaves, and said it would help to prevent colds. I was a kid so it was difficult for me to drink. Sometimes I vomited. Now there are Fa Thalai Chon capsules that you can purchase at the pharmacy and take much more easily.
อย่างที่ทราบกันดีว่าฟ้าทะลายโจร มีรสชาติขมมากๆ ตอนเด็กนั้นแม่ก็ต้มให้กินเสมอเลย เพราะท่านบอกว่ามันจะช่วยป้องกันหวัดได้ มันกินยากบางครั้งฉันก็บ้วนทิ้งก็มี 555 เทคโนโลยีในปัจจุบัน มีการผลิตออกมาในรูปแบบแคปซูล ทำให้กินง่ายหาซื้อได้ตามร้านขายาทั่วไปคะ
Side Effects
Fa Thalai Chon is not suitable for pregnant and lactating women and people with a Fa Thalai Chon allergy. Don't take it for a long time continuously because there are side effects.
ฟ้าทะลายโจร หากทานมาไปก็จะเป็นโทษ และสำหรับคนบางกลุ่มควรหลี่กเลี่ยงเช่น หญิงตั้งครรภ์ และให้นมบุตร เพราะอาจจะมีผลข้างเคียง และไม่ควรใช้ต่อเนื่องเป็นเวลานานๆ

เราได้ยินมาว่ามีงานวิจัยทางการแพทย์ที่เมืองไทย บอกว่าฟ้าทะลายโจรสามารถช่วยบรรเทาเชื้อโควิด 19 ได้...ไม่รู้ว่าเท็จจริงแค่ไหนนะ ุแต่ถ้าเป็นจริงก็ดีสิเน๊อะ!
ได้ยินมาเหมือนกันคะ แต่ก็ยังไม่ทราบแน่ชัดว่ารักษาได้จริงไหม รอติดตามข่าวอยู่เหมือนกันคะ เพราะแบบนี้เลยพกติดมาจากไทยละคะ อิอิ
I like this herb too but if taken too regularly will disrupt menstrual cycle or the "qi" (dampness) of womb.

I LOVE this herb and use-prescribe-write about it often. But how right you are - CRAZY bitter!! 🤣
As you knew it is very very bitter, I don't know which word it can explain about it. lol
I often tell people it is 'dry-mouth-tongue-curling bitter that you can taste for hours. LOL. I have it growing in my garden here in Mae Rim but we prefer to buy the tablets. LOL. And swallow only with ICE cold water to numb the tongue and kill any aftertaste.
My mom is growing it in Bangkok but I’m in Osaka so it is easy to bring capsules one here. 😆

Bitters ARE good for you - just our palate isn't used to them. I've been munching on bitter dandelion leaves on my walks.

Interesting the old wise people know better those strange plants that we don't even know about always turn out the best with lots of good medicines in them.
I know the basis of Fa Thalai benefit like as preventing cold only. But it has side effect if take it long time.
Plants have always been from the ancient times a medical cure for many illness and still are today 👍
