In this blog I will be sharing information about the medicinal plant Budi Ka Logar that can cure all stomach problems.
Botanical name of Budi Ka Logar is Verbascum Thapsus Linn and it belongs to Scrophulariaceae family of plants.
This specie of Verbascum Thapsus Linn is distributed from Afghanistan to South West China and usually grows in temperate region of Eurasia between 1000m to 4000m in exposed slopes. Budi Ka Logar is native to Europe, Oriens, Himalayan Region.
Verbascum Thapsus Linn is an erect herb who’s stem is about 40-90 cm tall, stout, simple and winged with long decurrent leaf-lobes. Leaves of Budi Ka Logar plant is densely clothed with gray - yellow tomentum which are 10-17 x 2.5-3.5 cm in size.
Leaves are radical, obovate or oblanceolate and cauline ones oblong or oblong- lanceolate, entire or crenate, acute or acuminate.
Flowers of Budi Ka Logar plant is 1-1.2 cm long and are yellow in colour, flowers are crowded in wooly terminal spikes 20-40 cm long: bracts 1 cm long, ovate-oblong, acuminate; calyx and are 4-5mm long.
Leaves are woolly outside and lobes are nearly equal, obtuse, spreading. Corolla is 1-1.2 cm long, lobes are nearly about five in number, spreading, nearly equal, woolly outside. Stamens and filaments are short and hairy and some are longer and glabrous.
Stigma of Budi Ka Logar plant is capitate and Capsule is near about 7x5 mm, ovoid, tomentose and seeds are 0.5mm long.
Part Used and Indigenous Uses :
Crushed leaves of Budi Ka Logar plant can cure stomach pain.
The decoction of leaves along with onion is useful for stomach problems.
Crushed leaves are warmed in mustard oil and used as massage for curing inflammation of the body.
The smoke of the plant is utilized to drive away the ghostly instincts from the children
