Community Garden in my Locality! | My Wednesday Walk!

in Natural Medicine4 years ago

Living in a busy city is very tiring. We get to see the same boring view every single day. And the unfortunate thing is our view mostly covered with skyscrapers and concrete structures. That's why when I randomly get to see this type of Comunity Garden initiative it really amazes me.

A few days ago I went for a morning walk at a nearby lake and discovered this community garden. This is very new because I used to walk there very often but never saw anything like this. Though there used to be some random vegetable plants but not such huge initiative.

People who live in nearby slums/side of the road grow this community garden. I am amazed by seeing their work. You know, those people mostly have low income and live in daily basis income. So I did quick math to understand what makes them took such initiative. And the answer may be, 'Corona'. Because hundreds of people became jobless and unemployed. And as mostly 'rickshaw puller' and 'housemaids' used to live there so I guess they are trying to make something work!

I have seen several types of seasonal vegetable plants too. Like, bitter melon, water pumpkin, pumpkin, and many more. I guess they choose the types which grow very quickly and don't need much care to grow. Our country is very green and the land is very article. So growing vegetables is very easy here. I'm really very happy to see their initiatives. I hope they can meet their need as well as seek some of the products on the market too.

You can see the whole huge area surrounded by the lake is covered by green. They almost covered the whole area to grow at least something. I really hope we could learn something from them. We have a mini garden in our rooftop too where we grow some vegetables and mostly flowers. But this can be a good option to 'eat fresh'.

It was a nice thoughtful walk!

Community gardens are amazing things for ALL of us to participate in - rich & poor alike. Nothing better than home grown food & fruit.

Yeah, the idea of community garden is amazing. But unfortunately, people don't do that here, especially people from the upper class.
This is really very unfortunate that we think the work related to food production is not worthy enough. And we are eating all the unhealthy, chemical mixed products. Getting organic or healthy products is a challenge here.
I hope this type of initiative will reduce the gap and will encourage more people to be with it.
Thanks for your support.

Excellent! I think many people are starting gardens now for various reasons. I know many people are having financial hardships these days and hope that these gardens can help through these difficult times. As well let's hope they keep growing gardens in the future. Community gardens are great because besides providing food they help beautify the area and bring people together when they see each other while gardening. I lived in Poland before and there they have very large community gardens left over from communist times. People even have little houses there where they can relax while working in the gardens. Self sufficiency is the best way if possible and I'll assume they don't use pesticides? So even better and healthy!

It's a great thing for sure. Good to know about Poland's culture of community garden.
Unfortunately it's not very common here. And yes, people use pesticides in everything nowadays. There's not much rule and awareness in my country, so... But I really appreciate what they have done there.
Thanks and have a nice day!
