Peumulia Jamee Ranup Lampuan, the proverb in Aceh which means 'Glorify guests by serving betel in Puan '. Puan is a traditional Aceh betel container, made of carved brass.
Betel (Ranup) has the significance of the customs of Acehnese, usually served to welcome and glorify guests at formal events in Aceh.
Formulated from natural ingredients, areca nut, gambier, cloves, and wrapped in betel leaves. The tradition of betel chewing is believed by the Acehnese to contain various health benefits for the body.

Beautiful images!! I would have loved to see an old grandma with her dark red teeth as the last image.
It's used a lot here in Thailand too, and among the Karen people whom I work with along the Burmese border.
The old grandmother who chewed betel was no longer visible in our place, maybe in the countryside would find it
Your photograph is magnificent and oh I loved how important it is to treat your guests well; to glorify them. 💛
