"A man is literally what he thinks, his character is the sum of
his thoughts."

Our thoughts, or the internal dialogue we have, will generate feelings in us (for good or for bad). This is a principle that we cannot change, but we can use it to our advantage.
-
Sometimes we let the adverse circumstances that happen to us or occur around us, influence us in a negative way. This causes thoughts such as fear, anguish or despair to generate feelings that far from helping us to face problems with serenity, add weight to our lives and prevent us from bringing out the inner strength that we all carry inside.

But... How can we control our mind?

1. Practice optimism

Chilean philosopher and scientist John Baines used to say:

"The first step to the solution of problems is optimism. It is enough to believe that something can be done to have already half the way done and the victory very close."

These wise words are still valid today, because there is nothing that can lift our spirits better than the full conviction of believing that everything will turn out well.

2.Incrase belief in what you watt

Professor Hill, author of one of the most influential self-help books:Think and Grow Rich, stated:

"Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, can be achieved."
Napoleon Hill

If we gather all our attention and energy on what we desire, we will be exercising our mind with useful thoughts to face life. As a consequence of using this habit, our faith will increase and therefore we will have an attitude of triumph.

3.Expresses gratitude

It's no secret that an attitude of gratitude is the key to a change of focus and makes us happier. If we dedicate ourselves to giving value to the blessings we possess, we will generate a powerful emotion that will help us see circumstances from a different perspective and keep our minds focused on the good. Let's be thankful!

4. Learn to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts

The American writer and speaker Louise Hay, considered a faithful and worthy representative of the New Thought movement, is convinced that the best way to replace negative thoughts is through positive affirmations that we can write down and install in our minds.

To do this, she suggests that we:

  • Identify the negative thoughts that burden us through unbiased observation.
  • Understand that they are part of mistaken beliefs planted from an early age in our subconscious.
  • Consciously replace them with much more useful and enriching beliefs and affirmations.

In closing, and taking into consideration the formula that indicates that every thought generates an emotion associated with it, we have in our hands the possibility of guiding the phrases that we repeat to ourselves daily, and of housing in our minds thoughts that provoke positive sentiments (that contribute to our wellbeing).
-
Even if our current situation is not the best and we are going through a dark valley such as illness, pain or sadness, we can help ourselves to be filled with peace and strength through thoughts of love, courage and hope.

What you say to yourself will determine how you feel today

Therefore: Let us be good guardians of our minds, let us watch the words we say to ourselves, understanding the responsibility that rests in our hands!
  • You are authentic!

  • You are wonderful!

  • Everything you do will work out excellently because God is with you and you will make sure of it!
  • Every day is a new opportunity to make things better and better!
  • Becoming positive is POSSIBLE and ESSENTIAL to enjoy life.
Controlling the mind is one of the goals we must set ourselves if we want to enjoy the longed-for emotional wellbeing. If the mind takes over, it will only remind us of how bad we are having a bad time. On the contrary, if we take control, our mind will become our best friend: always ready to help and empower us.
