Según, se tiene memoria de los acontecimientos, por la voz y experiencia de un anónimo médico veterinario, también biólogo marino, investigador del Instituto Oceanográfico de Venezuela, de la Universidad de Oriente. Exaltado y temeroso, producto de amenazas proferidas por autoridades, le confesó todo a su mejor amigo.
Después de una tormenta, todavía de madrugada, pescadores que se proponían capturar camarones, ahí, dónde el río Manzanares y el mar confluyen, encontraron flotando, al borde de una playita, una especie de globo o huevo brillante de gran tamaño, blanquísimo, como si estuviera elaborado de seda o alguna fibra sintética.
Los arriesgados pescadores, impulsados por el instinto y la curiosidad, cortaron a machetazos la singular esfera. Inmediatamente, la misma perdió algo de volúmen, y de ella emanó un líquido viscoso de mayor luminiscencia. Se percataron de que en el interior de la bolsa, yacía un organismo, y con mayor prudencia, terminaron de liberar al esbelto cuerpo de aproximadamente, dos metros y medio de estatura.
En líneas generales, se develó, que se trataba de una criatura parecida a un ser humano, no obstante, poseía rasgos de pez, estaba dotado de una extendida aleta dorsal, y de membranas interdigitales en sus extremidades superiores e inferiores, con color de piel tornasolado, una cabellera muy larga de colores desconocidos; al parecer estaba inconsciente, y su rostro no podía ser detallado con claridad, porque daba la sensación de que en su totalidad, estaba cubierto por una fina malla, ajustada a la tez facial. También portaba un notorio e inusual cinturón, el cual fue retirado de la criatura.
Entretanto, escoltado por una patrulla policial, fue trasladado en la plataforma de un camión Ford F-350, a la sede original del museo del mar, entonces ubicada en el antiguo aeropuerto de Cumaná, contigua a la Avenida Universidad. Ahí, fue colocado en un estanque. Al poco tiempo de entrar en contacto con el agua, el ser de apariencia mitológica, comenzó a reanimarse. Literalmente unió sus piernas formando, una cola de sirena, que le permitía desplazarse por el agua.
Los presentes, atónitos y desconcertados al contemplar el hecho, quedaron envueltos en un climax de confusión y tensión. Los policías desenfundaron sus armas y apuntaban directamente a la criatura. Nuestro anónimo biólogo entró a la escena, quedando en sintonía telepática con el ser sirénido, este último, sentado al borde del estanque, pedía casi en forma de ruego, que dejarán de amenazarlo con las armas, porque lo ponían nervioso, y con un gesto de la mano señalaba al cinturón, haciéndolo cambiar de color, con la intención de que se lo regresaran.
Los asustados policias no estuvieron de acuerdo con la petición en tela de juicio. Por cautela, se negaron a regresar la prenda. Seguidamente, llegaron unos hombres rubicundos, altos, vestidos de traje obscuro, y controlaron la situación. Se llevaron a la criatura. Antes, exhortaron a los presentes, repetidas veces: "ustedes lo que vieron aquí fue un manatí", "ustedes lo que vieron aquí fue un manatí", "ustedes lo que vieron aquí fue un manatí"...
Concluyó el biólogo marino, con razón por esos días, merodeaba la Marina Mercante estadounidense, entre Mochima y Araya. Eso no fue ninguna sirena, tampoco un manatí. ¡Si existen! Es un extraterrestre, yo lo ví.

Meanwhile, escorted by a police patrol, he was transferred on the bed of a Ford F-350 truck, to the original headquarters of the museum of the sea, then located in the old Cumaná airport, next to Avenida Universidad. There, it was placed in a pond. Shortly after coming into contact with the water, the being of mythological appearance began to revive. She literally joined her legs, forming a mermaid's tail, which allowed her to move through the water.
Those present, stunned and bewildered to contemplate the fact, were wrapped in a climax of confusion and tension. The policemen drew their weapons and pointed directly at the creature. Our anonymous biologist entered the scene, remaining in telepathic harmony with the mermaid being, the latter, sitting on the edge of the pond, asked almost in the form of a plea, that they stop threatening him with weapons, because they made him nervous, and with a gesture by the hand he pointed to the belt, making it change color, with the intention of having it returned to him.
The frightened policemen did not agree with the questioned request. Out of caution, they refused to return the garment. Next, some tall, ruddy men dressed in dark suits arrived and controlled the situation. They took the creature away. The marine biologist concluded, rightly so in those days, the US Merchant Marine was loitering between Mochima and Araya. That was not a mermaid, nor was it a manatee. If they exist! It's an alien, I saw it.
