A healthy start
We've all heard it before. It's one of those old adages. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Ya, I accept that. It makes sense. Start as you mean to go on. Get some good fuel into the body first thing.
Now I'm not saying that this is the most healthy thing that I could be eating, but it's definitely not the unhealthiest either. We've got nuts, berries, superfoods, in fact two super foods, so all things considered, not a bad breakfast at all.
Ok, so what's in the bowl?
Granola
OK, so the first ingredient is actually the least healthy, and it's shop bought Granola. I accept that this is loaded with added sugar, but over time, I hope to start making my own no added sugar granola, more to follow on that one.
Nuts
What's not to like about nuts? They are healthy and they literally grow on trees, so no added sugar or shite mixes in, just plain old natural nuts. I go for almonds and walnuts and also add some raisins to the next for that bit of bite.
Bring on the super foods
We've all read the latest article or instagram post from some incredibly beautiful specimen of a human telling us all about the latest superfood. Some may be fad, but they can't all be wrong, so when I hear foods mentioned as a superfood, I try to add them somewhere in my diet. First up here are berries and particular blueberries and raspberries, though I do add strawberries too.
Not only do they add flavour and health benefits, but they give this meal a pop of colour too, as us humans do eat with our eyes too and I think you'll agree that this breakfast is starting to look very appetising.
Our next superfood is chai seeds, I sprinkle some ground chai seeds over the top.
We're very nearly there now folks. Just top up with a bit more Granola and then douse in milk.
Ready to go now. Bob's your uncle and Robert is your Auntie's brother! Grab a spoon and tuck in!
Bon Appetite
Sláinte and Peace out.
I think you missed the pics equity the sausage and bacon? 🤣
Oh their day will come!! I've shared my fair share of fry ups on here and will again!!! Can't beat a big dirty fry up when the hangover is in town..
I dunno.
There is a lot to be said for a few weetabix after seeing that. 😅
I used to be an animal for the Wheatabix. Four every morning or else porridge. Seldom have Wheatabix anymore
Fruits, biscuit of weetbix broken up, plain yogurt get up and go. Never set in stone after all there is fish-paste or sardines on toast, bacon and egg or other super tasty continental breakfasts as well. Variety is the spice of life, eat to live not live to eat....
Amen to that. Never was a truer word spoken... all that you mention above sounds super tasty too!
Make sure to have fruit everyday, many not able to, but should try.
So true, those of us lucky enough to have the means to eat healthy foods like fruit have zero excuses not to.
I find younger generation many simply don't eat enough fruit, growing up with variety perhaps is what stuck!
First @riverflows, now you. What's going on with all this healthy food for breakfast? Not I need to get a greasy big breakfast to balance out all this 😃
Oh I'm very partial to a good greasy breakfast too when hungover or on holidays!!!
Nice man! You really need to make your own granola or muesli, it is really good and beyond this world in terms of flavour combinations. Let your imagination go wild.
This is nonetheless an awesome bowl! Enjoy it, and keep well.
Ya I'll have to give it a go man.. why not... and at least then you know there's no added sugar and salt etc
For sure! But a little sugar goes a long way. It adds that much needed crunchy element to the whole bowl.
I usually eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast during the week. I just don't have time in the morning for anything more than that. When I get to work though, I often have a cup of greek yogurt and some granola. It's probably one of my favorite things I eat every day.
Mmmmm sounds tasty... and healthy enough too... it's hard these days with so much crap added to our foods.. it's the root cause of many modern day ailments
Yeah, I've actually been eating the whole fat greek yogurt lately. I figure that is still better than the artificial chemicals they add to the fat free stuff.
Ya interesting point, natural all the way, that's the way to go I find. No packets, no jars, just healthy whole foods.
Sadly though it gets expensive to eat that way. It can really rack up your grocery bill!
Yep that's a fact, but it's an investment in you and your loved ones so money well spent in my opinion
Yup, that all looks damn healthy to me! Either way you look at you appear to have a healthy start to the day!
