Modifying Traditional Breakfast Serves More Classy and Attractively

International, what I mean here is the use of food ingredients that are more classy and presented more attractively.

BUBUR TEPUNG BERAS or Rice Flour Porridge is one of the many traditional Indonesian breakfast dishes that are still around and always popular.

Original Rice Flour Porridge

Bringing a sweet and savory taste, the Rice Flour Porridge is suitable for Indonesian tongues. The savory taste comes from coconut milk ingredients and the sweet taste comes from brown sugar sauce.

Actually, we Indonesians are not familiar with breakfast with fruit. In contrast to the more modern international-style food serving which is more often found in hotels or other exclusive places.

So this time I tried to make a variation of my family's favorite traditional menu.

INGREDIENTS FOR PORRIDGE

(for 5-6 servings)

  • 300 grams of rice flour
  • 1800 ml of coconut milk
  • One tablespoon of salt
  • Pandan leaves, 2 sheets

INGREDIENTS FOR BROWN SUGAR SAUCE

  • 400 grams of brown sugar
  • 800 ml of water for brown sugar sauce
  • 6 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 pieces of Pandan Leaves



First Time Combining Rice Flour Porridge with Fruit

This is indeed my first time trying to modify rice flour porridge and mix it with fruit.

I knew it would taste good so I was more courageous to do this experiment. :)

For the fruit that I use as a topping, here I use banana, mango, and dragon fruit.

The fruit is not a common thing for Indonesian breakfast. But I guarantee this menu it tastes good! Nothing strange at all.

Then, I served them carefully so that they didn't seem to mix with each other.

It really looks like a more classy look. Maybe there will be people who do not believe that this is not a menu from Indonesia because of its modified appearance.

That was my story modifying one of my favorite traditional menus for breakfast.
