SPI-CEY!! 🌢 Thai Chili Snacking Yumminess!!

You KNOW that all hope is lost and you will probably die here in Asia when you start eating this as your go-to comfort food.

Let's back-track a weeny bit.

We were at the Thai bank opening a prompt pay QR code electronic payment option for our Thai herbal products business. Having submitted 14 paper photocopies of our Thai public company documentation to the bank along with the shareholder register, paper company bank book 🀣 and the paper passport, the guy fiddled on the computer for a bit. Then after 15 mins of more silent unexplained computer fiddling while we fidgeted and waited, he seriously announced that we should go home, print out the document he had just emailed us, fill it out with a blue pen, rubber stamp it with the official company seal and return with it the following day to complete the process.

I was incredulous. What are we in here - the stoneage?? So many trees, two trips to the bank already and STILL we have to print out yet more paper & make a 3rd trip?

ANYway, muttering and complaining, I stalked out of the bank and lo & behold THERE SHE WAS - the comfort food angel. A Thai street vendor selling fried chili snacks!! YUMMO!!

You KNOW you have lived in Asia far too long when you prefer fried chili snack to icecream or chocolate. 🀣

"Just breathe, mama. You KNOW it's almost never sorted in one visit to the bank. 1 pack or 2?"

Miss 16, my half-Thai daughter and the business's major shareholder is wise beyond her years.

This stuff is wickedly spicy! And fried in sesame oil, with sesame seeds sprinkled. And yes, you CAN taste the yummy sesame vibe before the burn kicks in.

Seriously next level and the product that arguably sorts the tourists from the locals.

We giggled and laughed all the way home about the archaic Thai banking system and how I AM progressing in my patience and emotional control - I didn't bark, bite or yell at anyone - well, not very much. And so we chomped through most of one pack on the way home and I felt much better. Soooooo good!! The ultimate Thai snack with an ice cold Leo.

That looks delicious. What is it called? 😍 Sorry I can't read Thai writing. πŸ˜…

It literally says in Thai, 'Fried Chili'. No snappy product or brand names needed here!! πŸ˜† Transliterates as 'prik tod".

Thank you Sir !

OMG PLEASE SEND ME SOME!!!!!!! I'LL PAY YOU!!! These look amazing - never mind living in Asia, this stuff totally floats my boat! I do love it spicey!

πŸ˜† trust me, if Aussie quarantine laws allowed, you'd have a large carton of this yummy magic on the way. Sadly, the endless import regs make that not possible. But the thought is there. Pretty amazing for crumbling on salads, stirs fries etc just before serving.

Yes, these would pair well with a crisp, lightly chilled Chenin Blanc. 🍷

Let there be more awesome wine in the world! And great snacks to complement it.
