Recreating at home the flavors of typical Chinese restaurants is quite difficult, not to mention that there is no exact recipe for this type of dish, in some places they add ingredients that in others they don't, and very few reveal their secrets and techniques. However, we can always make something very similar to the original one we want.

Before in Venezuela it was very common to go to eat at a Chinese restaurant, its unique fried rice, chop suey, lumpias (spring rolls), etc. You could find them anywhere and there used to be many, some more accessible than others depending on the area. Nowadays there are few (at least in the state I live in) Chinese restaurants that still work, and the dishes have become a luxury for many.

In today's post I want to show you how to prepare chop suey Venezuelan style, with the ingredients that are more affordable and also in a healthy way.

Ingredientes necesarios:

200gr de pechuga de pollo
½ repollo
1 zanahoria grande
1 pimentón verde
1 cebolla
Unas ramas de celery y cebollín
Salsa de soya
1 taza de caldo de pollo
1 cucharada de maicena
Ajo
Sal

Ingredients needed:

200gr chicken breast
½ cabbage
1 large carrot
1 green pepper
1 onion
A few branches of celery and chives
Soy sauce
1 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
Garlic
Salt

This recipe also has soy sprouts and ginger. I didn't use them because I didn't have any. Additionally there are those who put zucchini in it.

Procedimiento:

Procedure:

Well, the first thing to do is to cut all the vegetables and the chicken in strips, only the cabbage can be left bigger if you like. This recipe is really fast, after having everything chopped it will be ready in 10 minutes maximum.

Then you put a large pan on the stove or if you have a wok, better. When it is hot, put enough oil (about 3 or 4 tbsp) and add the garlic, move it a few moments so that it doesn't burn and then add the chicken and let it cook a little (you can add the ginger now).

Continue adding each ingredient little by little, and in between add a little bit of salt. I put the onions, then the carrot and the pepper, the cabbage and finally the celery and the chives.

The next thing I did was add soy sauce, it doesn't have a measure, just add it until you like it. Finally, add the cup of chicken broth along with the spoonful of cornstarch and stir until everything is integrated and it looks like a barely thick sauce.

¡Y listo!

And that's it! You can accompany it with white rice or a homemade Chinese rice too. That day I ate it with a Chinese rice prepared by @mixbar.show and everything was delicious.

As you can see this recipe is quite healthy, it has many vegetables and does not have a huge amount of fat, besides it has a lot of flavor. I hope you liked it and that you dare to prepare it and tell me how it tastes. See you soon!

Buen post. Muchas bendiciones.

I was hungry just to see the step by step of the post. I love this dish, and I really miss it from when you could go to Chinese restaurants and eat it; although I consider that doing it at home is much better from an economic, health and quality point of view. Good post. Many blessings.
