De la huerta a la mesa: Buñuelos de Yuca | From the garden to the table: Yuca Fritters

Hola mis panas de Hive! Hoy me encuentro nuevamente con ustedes para compartir un dulce criollo de la gastronomía Venezolana. Voy a sacar el ingrediente principal directamente de la tierra de mi patio.

Hello my friends from Hive! Today I meet with you again to share a sweet Creole from the Venezuelan gastroomy. I am going to get the main ingredient directly from the soil in my yard.

Vamos a sacar dos árboles de Yuca, la yuca que comemos es la raíz que extraemos directamente de la tierra.

We are going to take out two Yucca trees, the yucca that we eat is the root that we extract directly from the ground.

Cuando ya tenemos nuestra raíz, la cortamos.

Preparación de Buñuelos - Preparation of Fritters:

La yuca debemos pelarle la piel. Hay que dejarla blanca.

The cassava we must peel the skin. You have to leave it white.

Luego de pelar debemos hervir hasta que quede blanda.

After peeling we must boil until soft.

Para amasar necesitamos un envase y dentro del envase sal y azúzar.

To knead we need a container and inside the container salt and sugar.

Luego en ese envase colocamos yuca ya hervida y aplastamos, le quitamos las venitas duras dentro de la yuca y dejamos lo suave. Podemos aplastar con ayuda de un tenedor.

Then in that container we place boiled yucca and squash, remove the hard veins inside the yucca and leave the soft. We can crush with the help of a fork.

Luego de tener la yuca aplastada, para unificar ponemos un huevo.

After having the yucca crushed, to unify we put an egg.

Amasamos hasta hacer una masa suave y moldeable.

Then we knead until we make a soft and moldable dough.

Hacemos unas bolitas con la masa de yuca.

We make some balls with the yucca dough.

Pasamos por harina de maíz cada bolita.

Luego freímos y rebozamos el melado cada bolita frita...

Then we fry and batter each fried ball...

El melado se hace con papelón, canela, anís y clavos de olores. Se deja reducir en agua hiviendo.

The melado is made with papelón, cinnamon, anise and scented cloves. It is allowed to reduce in boiling water.

Los buñuelos deben sumergirse en el melado y luego podemos comer.

The fritters need to be dipped in the syrup and then we can eat.

Son muy buenos, crujientes por fuera, suavidad por dentro y completamente sabrosos!
