I never thought I'd like Korean food :o

What I thought would be snack, became dinner. xD

I never tasted Korean foods before. I don't know why or how. You know that thing when you are just not interested in doing something because there's no influence? Yeah, that's probably it.

I'm not a fan of Korean drama nor Korean pop music. I have no friends who like to eat Korean food. I have no Korean friend. I am not near a Korean restaurant. I don't binge watch mukbangs. So, there's really no "push" for me to try their cuisine even though I know it tastes good.

It was until...

The gf of my bro ordered Tteokbukki (Rice Cake in Hot Sauce). At first I was quite hesitant as I don't like hot (spicy?) food, I took a bite and it was good.

They found this restaurant online and it looks authentic since the cook is a Korean. I heard that other Korean restaurants here have Filipino cooks, so the taste isn't as Korean as it should be. I mean, there's definitely nothing wrong with that but you know Koreans know their food better than Filipinos, right?

On their next order, they asked me if I wanted to order some too. Of course, I don't know any other food in their menu so I ordered the rice cake haha. And damn it was so good. And their kimchi is the best. (ಥ﹏ಥ)

So earlier I woke up at 4pm

And I was hungry AF!! I don't know what went to my mind but I just wanted some rice cake. (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)

And since I was hungry, I kinda... binge ordered. I was actually planning for them to be eaten before dinner and midnight snacks but since I ordered many, I just shared them with my family lol.

But since it arrived at 7pm, it became a dinner. :P

This is the Tteokbukki (Rice Cake), the rice cake that I have been craving for the whole week. The gf of my bro ordered one too.

It's not as hot as I thought it would be, it was tolerable for my tongue, although I stop mid way to drink water. xD

The one on the lower left is the Yukgaejang (Spicy Beef Soup with Vegetables). I haven't tasted this before but the name sounds yummy. Of course, as expected from this restaurant, it is delicious as hell. I'm not even exaggerating.

On the lower right is the Janchi Guksu (Korean Noodle Soup) that my mom ordered.

The one on the upper right is Kimchi. \ (•◡•) / I ordered two tubs (2 kilos) because I love it that much lol. It's really different from the other kimchis I have tasted. I let my mom pay the half of the kimchi though cos I know they will all eat it. And they finish the food that I buy sometimes, nothing left for me. ಠ⌣ಠ

The one on the upper left is the Ulmyeon (Noodles with Seafood and Thick Soup) which my dad and brother liked, so I ordered it for them. I can only taste the soup and can't really eat a lot since I am allergic to shrimp and crabs. It was really really good like you can really taste it was fresh and tasty AF, like the ones I taste aren't from those powders you mix with your food.

Here's the close up of the crab. Sucks I can't taste you.

This is the Kimbap and like any other comments, this was also really good. I reserved it as a midnight snack. :3

And the side dishes! These are free but goddamnit they are also great lmao like does this restaurant even have a bad side or something?

And this is everything that I've ordered.

I still don't know how to use chopsticks confidently tho.

Anyway, I'm glad I tried a foreign food, and if there's something that I should thank to start liking Korean food, it's the Sitio Babak Korean Restaurant. If I tried this from other restaurants, I don't know if I will like it this much (cos like I said, most aren't authentic). But now, I feel like I won't order again from other Korean restaurants in the city.

So that's my journey to liking Korean food haha.

Koreans, your food is awesome. (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`) No wonder why you're so proud of it. :3

tteolbukki is the biz!! My 15 year old half Thai daughter (@ploimrt on Hive) loves all things Korean. But we live long time in Thailand where the food is always at godesss level, so no need for Korean food right? WRONG. 🤣 We're pretty excited we can go and eat in again soon at the local Korean BBQ here in Chiang Mai - it's always jammed with Koreans and last time we went I was the only whitey. My daughter traveled to Korea for 6 weeks (alone!) at age 13 and loved it.

More korean rice cakes!! 😍

This all looks so good. Yukgaejang is delicious. Now I want to go and get some Korean food for dinner.

Indeed! Go get some :D

Oooo it loooks so good! Somebody is having a chinese crushhh😂😂 I tried chinese and it's addictive. Love the noodles and bamboo with chicken.

Chinese food is also good! I love how they kinda have the sweet taste! :D

Yummm sweet and spicy😍

Nothing wrong with Korean food!

Well I never thought of that before! I don't know why but before I thought Korean foods are all raw and hot (spicy) hahah

I never tried Korean but I want to 💖💖

I hope the pics are encouraging you lol

All dishes look yummy, I like Korean food. Please try Thai food.😆

Sadly I haven't seen any Thai restaurant here! Or there must be but I just didn't notice hahah. When I come across one I'll try for sure!

Ugh! I'm drooling over this food blog!
My favorite korean food is Kimchi. So healthy!

Haha yeah I usually don't eat a lot of veggies but Kimchi made me. So yummy and healthy indeed!

Interesting Review. Looks like you had a lot to eat :)

Thank you! :D

Wow! Looks heaven.

Curious to try it once.

(Only tried vegetarian Korean noodles before)

I would go with Tteokbukki to start with.
