This place is a high-end grocer with deli, butcher & seafood counters, a wine shop & an international eatery.
First up, our appetizer - Ahi Tuna Tartar, Avocado, Pinenuts with Plum Soy.
Made of dice Ahi Tuna, pinenuts, spring onions, sesame seeds, & avocado with quail egg yolk & plum soy.
This appetizer is one of the highlights of the night! The combination of all ingredients is brilliant! It has my favourite avocado (I have not eaten avocado for a long time! T.T). On top of that, I like sashimi, so the raw slices of fish are a plus point. Pinenuts were added to increase the texture. The chef also added 3 pinches of wasabi to spark the taste of the overall dish. Bravo!
This is my main dish - Linguinie Seafood Aglio Olio, Chilli Fenugreek
Consists of prawns, squid, scallops marinated with fenugreek, fennel, ginger, honey, garlic, chilli with linguinie, and white wine.
But I personally didn't enjoy this. Aside from the seafood, the spaghetti was overall dry, spicy (due to the chilli padi) and not much flavour. Hahaha, so it wasn't the kind of oily-savoury-flavorful Aglio olio that I was expecting. 😂
My friend #1 ordered a Beef Bourguignon.
This dish is made of Angus beef in red wine, served with beef bacon, carrots, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes.
It's my first time hearing and seeing a Beef Bourguignon dish. According to Google, it can also be called Beef Burgundy (i guess it's due to the colour), which is French beef stew. Looks really good! My friend reviewed, "it's not bad".
My friend #2 ordered an Aussie Angus Beef Burger.
This burger consists of a grilled Angus beef patty, brioche bun, mixed salad, pickled beetroot, grilled onions, tomato, pineapple relish, and cheddar cheese with Asian bbq sauce, and is served with hand-cut fries.
Look at the patty - so thick! My friend reviewed that "it's surprisingly good"!
Speaking of the patty, this place has a butchery area where they sell premium meats like a tomahawk, wagyu, dry-aged beef, Miyazaki A5 wagyu rib eye etc. If you like premium beef cuts, you can give this place a try. I saw from online reviews that many people went there for their steak. I wanted to try it too, but it was too expensive 😂.
Next up, my friend #3 ordered a Canadian White Cod Buerre Blanc.
It consists of a few pieces of white cod, served with broccolini, potato terrine, and lemon butter sauce.
Some of us get to taste this minimalistic looking yet most expensive dish of the night. And gosh... it was soooooooo gooooood! 😍
The soft codfish was bathed with a very nice fragrance of lemon butter sauce = match made in heaven! One mouthful of it, and you'll go... wow-eyes-closed-heart-content kinda face expression. Haha, such a brilliant dish!
And lastly, my drink - the Classic Mojito!
Its made of Bacardi Oro, fresh mint, soda water, and lime.
It's been a while since I last drank a mojito. Such a nice and refreshing drink!
What a rare occasion for us to gather like this. Beyond grateful. :)
