A satisfying Porridge with Chicken & Veggitable to heal cold fever.

A Warm, comforting, and deeply satisfying dish is much needed to heal quickly from a cold fever. My son was sick for the last couple of days and I served this green porridge a few times. Though I was not sick, I too ate it. It has such a comforting flavor.

Let me share my recipe.


Ingredients.

  • Rice
  • Lentil
  • Chicken
  • Ginger and garlic paste
  • Onion
  • Green vegetables (I took beans, cauliflower leaves, and potatoes)
  • Salt
  • Turmeric powder (optional)
  • Green chili (optional)

Porridge is a pretty simple dish, that doesn't require many spices. I also didn't add any hot spices or anything else like we usually do in our cuisine. You can use any kind of vegetable like carrot goes well with it. Or you could skip vegetables if you want.


Step-by-step process.

I marinated the chicken pieces with ginger, garlic, turmeric, and salt for 15 minutes. Then fried it for a couple of minutes.

In another pot, I cooked the vegetables with the onion slices. Also, I have added a pinch of salt and turmeric to it as well. It will take a few minutes to cook.

Then added the lentils and rice with enough water to cook properly. You can use a pressure cooker to well combine it. I didn't mix the porridge that much because my son usually doesn't like the runny texture.

When it's almost done, add the chicken on top and cook it for another few minutes.

Mix everything well and cook on low heat until soft.

This is how it came out. Not very appealing, probably, but was very comforting. The tenderness of the chicken with the soft taste of the green veggies was very satisfying.

If you are having a cold and fever or any of your family members are, try making porridge. It sure helps to boost energy and heal the fever quickly.
