An inviting signIt’s probably the longest running pizza store in Salisbury North.
There may be others, but it is a big suburb. The store name was originally “Salisbury North Pizza Bar” but it was changed when the local council wanted to change the name of the entire suburb to “Hawksbury”; the name honouring a local football team:”The Hawks”. There was a dark, major, local event that triggered this, but that’s a subject for another time.
Since then several pizza stores in the area have come and gone, but the Hawksbury Pizza Bar
remains and it’s no surprise, really!
The owners are friendly and they deliver meals really fast. However, I normally go in personally because their “pick up” prices are cheaper than “deliver” prices and I could do with the exercise.
I often finding myself eating pizza on the way home! Chuckle. It really is that tempting!
They have extensive menu to choose from, and they don’t just sell pizzas, but a range of other delicious foods too. These include spaghetti, lasagne, ribs, chicken wings and various desserts.
An extensive menuIt can take about 15 minutes to cook, so while you’re waiting a television is usually on playing
either local sports or some mainstream programming. It really is my only exposure to it, and thankfully that’s minimal. The pizzas come in different sizes and are priced accordingly.

I’ve invested more than a few dollars in this machine, and gladly so.

I am not sure who invented the Yiros pizza, but I was going to claim that it originated at this store before deciding it might cause some contention if I didn’t do some research first.
What is a Yiros?
It’s called many different things around the world, and there are subtle variations in the ingredients. It can be called Giros, Gyro, Kebab, Donner Kebab, and even Souvlaki.
It’s usually some pita bread wrapped around either carved lamb, chicken or beef, with lettuce, onions, tomato, tabouli and covered in a garlic sauce. Perfect after night out drinking with friends, or just a meal on the go.
The Yiros Pizza combines he best elements of a Yiros, and puts them on a pizza. Pure genius!
Tomato and cheese at the base, fresh tomato, onion, marinated lamb, drizzled with a spiral of garlic sauce on top. Yum!
A Yiros PizzaAs you can see, it’s pretty amazing. You won’t find it through your traditional major pizza franchises, so ask if they have something similar at your local pizza place.
One of the beautiful things about a yiros and even pizza is that it can be customised, so you easy make this at home or request it from you local pizza place. Names will vary from location to location though.
